HGTC muffler curiosity ....
Now that i have removed my HGTC mufflers, i could observed in detail ..
They not have a good internal desing, or better have not a good design for max performance, this have induced me to think ....
I have observed slow all parts and i discovered an interesting thing!
The inlet flange is stamped in the back side in positio difficult to see "Tubi Style" ... why?
On the manufacturer plate is stamped "dueRRe"

I continued to think .... and i'm starting a web searching .... after less time i discovered interesting things :

- "dueRRe" was a exhaust and tank, manufacturer company in Maranello and the president the company was Rino Ruini, the name of the company for me wa sborn from R + R ...

- Tubi Style was born on 1987 from Enrico Ruini .....

- On 2012 the two company join and born the "Duerre Tubi Style Group Spa", and now is an automotive suppliers that work for best world brands, including Ferrari ....

For me Enrico and Rino was relatives ...

At the end i think the inside design of HGTC muffler was like this because probably tubistyle was the designer but dueRRe the manufacturer ...

Some of you knew this?

Best Regards

Interesting stuff Fabio, thanks for posting.
Even though the HGTC silencers may not be as free flowing as some aftermarket silencers, they still flow better than the standard exhaust and more notably, have a unique sound.
Will be fun at some point to get the added flow numbers that your new pieces will provide with the bypass open.

Fabio, I have had several sets of Tubi's in my hands. There is a huge difference in quality favoring the HGTC between them. Understanding that they may be relatives, the Tubi's are essentially an empty box in comparison. Designed for different reasons.

Ciao Bill,

i never had on my hand tubi ... and i seen only the exterior that is the same (for sure same mold for do the external half body), but i understand that they done a different inside design, sorry for my superficiality...

Thanks for information about that.

Fabio just an observation and opinion. Continuing with opinion, your new silencers are more thought out. And I'm sure when completed very nice quality.

Fabio,
I thought your photos looked familiar. In October, Celeste and I passed through there on our way to Forlė from Ancona. We went to see the castle at Forlė, made famous in a TV show about the Borgias. Had we known you lived nearby, we have brought a good bottle of Puglia wine to share over Ferrari stories!

Ciao Clyde,

ahaha .. you is always too kindly ....
My 575 need to be washed, fortunately pictures have hidden this ...
You did a choise different, I think you will b eenjoy next spring-summer when you can go down the F430 soft top and enjoy the sound....
Before installation of my headers i not liked so much the sound of Maranello, but V12 for me is a must.

Now is different.... now every time that I push the gas is only pure enjoyment for my senses .... I seem to be at the steering wheel of a GTO... (with 120 HP less ...)

Dear Fabio,
Thank you for your reply my friend. Yes I am sure I will enjoy the sound of my F430 Spider when I put the top down. I know you will think I am crazy, but I am already thinking of adding things to it, such as replacing some parts with carbon fiber (front splitter, rear diffuser and some in the engine bay) as well as eventually changing from the stock exhaust, but that comes later when I can save some more money. For now I will just enjoy her as she is.
I feel the 550/575 is the last of the classic Ferrari V12s, definitely from a styling point of view if not from a mechanical/electronic point of view, and I hope to one day be able to re-purchase either a 575 if I can afford it. Yes I agree, I always felt that my 575 was too quiet even with the Tubi's on her. Other people always reminded me that she was a GT and was supposed to be more quiet for long distance driving, but I wanted the Ferrari sound. I am sure had I kept her and if I would have fitted your headers and exhaust system I would have been satisfied, but of course I decided to go another way for now. Let's see what the future brings.
Yes you have Ferrari that is part of the extended GTO family. If you look at the styling of the 575 compared to the GTO (250) there are many styling cues that have been used. When the F12 TDF came out, fantastic car, but many people made reference to the styling cues similar to the original 250 TDF. Well, the 550/575 already had those same styling cues.

Fabio, cold here also where I live, about -1 to high of 10 at best. Still, I drive my cars taking turns because they need the exercise.

Interesting that your 550 drained battery faster than your 575 now ? Wonder why the difference.

Enjoy in good health.

Jimmy

PS. Sorry to hear the terrible news of earthquakes there again.

Jimmy,

we are lucky because where I live don't snowing a lot we have not felt the earthquake, but in the middle Italy where is the earthquake center last two week snowd a lot and two days ago the earthquake did other damages, they are very unlucky....

You make good to drive cars taking turns because a regular driving is the better mode to conserve them for the future.

Normally i drive my 575 max every 3 weeks and for sure if tomorrow will be the sun of today (6 °C) I will make a driving ....

Tomorrow afternoon I have apointment with my Ferrari dealer for a test drive with a ghibli, Maserati give taking turns to the single dealer 1 Levante and 1 Ghibli for test drive, I like the SQ4 but for sure both cars will be diesel....

I and my brother (my electronic specialist) checked few times my old 550 and problem was the central locks system that had an absorbtion of 180 mA instead of the 40 mA indicated on the workshop manual, but we never found the real part that create a problem, my dealer can't be able to go inside with SD tester, probalby was a problem on wiring system.
Solution: every time that i parked car on garage I disconnected the battery, easy and simple.

With the 575 disconnect the battery every time is not good becasue every time that you reconnect ad the first engine start ECU need to recalibrate the throttle parameters .... thing that 550 not have.
Now i'm lucky my 575 have not this problem, but the airg bag lampturn on regulary, my dealer check few times but he don't know what is ..

Kindly

Fabio
