Nice read. I wouldn't say the cockpit was quiet by modern standards - I had not driven my 550 for several months and when I drove it just after Christmas I noticed the wind noise. It didn't go as far as to irritate me, but it certainly is present. Huge difference with the 458. Guess it shows how far cars have come in recent years.

errrr..... high mileage? Are you kidding?

In Europe, a 20,000 mile Maranello would be considered low mileage. Most will have more than 50,000 miles, and more than 70,000 miles is no longer an exception. To find a sub-10,000 mile Maranello will be very difficult indeed. As it should be. Thankfully the owner review by Peter Euteneuer shows how it should be done.

The Forza article brought home how a 550/575 could have taken the outright win in Lemans if it was time warped back a few decades with nothing more than racing slicks. In this index you will see the 288 listed as a supercar which it was in the mideighties. Incredible how Ferrrari technology has developed in two decades. Will the next two decades bring as dramatic changes or are we at the tail end of sportscar development?

Yep, That high mileage thing was just dumb.

I wouldn't want a car with only 10,000 miles considering the age of these cars.

My 1998 550 has 45,000 and I don't think of it as high miles !

cheers,

bill
