Doug- Boy are you set. There are Michelin Supersports available for your car. That is the latest from Michelin and the sizes you need are affordable. Another choice is the Michelin PS2 Zero Pressures, used on the Corvette ZR1, if you worry about flats.

I would choose the Michelin Super Sports 245/40 18 for the fronts and 265/40 18 in the rear. Bigger front and slightly smaller rears will tend to make the car a little more neutral steering and get rid of the built in understeer in the OEM sizes.

Alternatively, the Michelin PS2 Zero Pressures in sizes 245/40 18 front and 275/40 rear. No worries about flats and almost as good as the Super Sports, but a bit more expensive.

Yell if you have any questions and you can check my choices on Your car's original 215/45 front tires are 25.6" in diameter and the 275/40 18s are 26.7" in diameter. The sizes I chose will fit your wheels and will not affect your ABS system. I wish they had the Super Sports to fit my car.

Doug- Not to worry. Recommendations coming by tonight. Wheels and tires are nicely finite problems.

Taz or Terry, makes no difference. Taz was my callsign in the AF.

    Taz? Terry?,
Thanks for checking. Yes, I have the OEM 18" wheels. And this is the first time I'm faced with changing tires on any high performance machine so I don't know squat.

    Appreciate your input,

Doug- Let me check. I thought the P Zero Rossos were still available, but would actually rather have PS2s or the new Super Sports. Will check sizes. Assume you still have the OEM 18" wheels?

I was told you are something of a tire expert. Well, here goes:
I'm looking to replace my tires and the original Michelins are no longer made.

The Pirelli P Zero Nero are available and are a-symetrical all around. This differs from Ferrari's original offering of the P Zero "System" which is symetrical fronts, a-symetrical rears.

Not sure if this is a good idea or bad. Another possibility is the new Michelin Pilot Sport 2's. But, these are 3/4" wider than the original and I'm afraid they will rub on the fenders (which are already bent from the original Pilot Sports.

    Any advice?

    Thanks very much in advance,
    Doug Butler

Kevin- I have no access to any Ferrari official sources, but if you call the service manager at FOA, I am sure they can provide the records and also possibly a copy of the window sticker. Your dealeship in FL should also be able to print a build sheet for you.

Glad you found the car you were seeking.

Hi Terry, I just purchased this 01' 550m 123562 and am trying to reconstruct all the service records for my files. For example I see it was purchased at Ferrari of Atlanta and appears to had lots of love there and at FCI - I have all the computer generated service history from FCI but nothing from Atl. I plan on putting it up on a lift at FMFL when it gets here in a week and going through it carefully - for instance I can see the motormounts were changed but I cant tell when and what mounts went in - 575 or 550. that sort of thing..

not sure what you have access to & how much trouble it is so please let me know if I am out of line asking. I live in a Ferrari world & have been privlileged to drive many cars on & off the track - but this is my first Fcar having been a die hard Porsche guy for years.

    Happy New Year!

Jeroen- No, they are 5x114.3 mm bolt pattern and your car has 5x108 mm.

    Have a Happy New Year
