    Dear David,
I saw your post in a thread about the SEFAC Concours that mentioned Dr. Hugh Gearing. I have a client here in the 'States who just purchased Dr. Gearing's Alfa Romeo 6C1750, #0312901. We are currently trying to confirm the origins of the body as there are a few gaps and rumors about the history of it. I happened upon your comments while searching and was delighted to see you knew of him and the car. Do you have any contacts with Dr. Gearing's family or friends who would be willing and able to discuss the Alfa? My goal is always to be respectful though I also feel it's important to the history of this car, to finally clear up any questions about its history. If you can be of any help at all, I would be very grateful. My client has a bit of a time constraint (what else is new in this business!) but again, I wish to be respectful to all those who can help. Thanks for your time and consideration.

Thanks for contacting me, John. Great that you have joined FerrariLife! I acquired her from Boxer in 2008 through FerrariLife. Unbelievable grip in the dry is quite a contrast to when the road is truly wet. On the highway with standing water she is fine at 70-80 mph, above that and she is skittish. On back roads she is far less nervous than expected. On a FLED in the UK in 2010 I was a Daytona. In the dry I was all over him through the twisties without trying. In the wet I was far more cautious and had to work hard to keep up.
The biggest revelation to me is that she still provides the delicacy and feel of my previous Dino 246gt together with unbelievable roadholding in the dry. I have driven many miles through the pouring rain in her.
Once you see her in the flesh and take her for a drive, I doubt you will want to change the look as a standard 308 looks a bit anorexic while the Michalone has the drama of the 288GTO without trying to be a clone.

    Hi David,
I enjoyed your marvellous posts & am actively investigating buying your 308 too (as Jurgen mentioned?). As my first Ferrari I'm attracted to a vetro which you've made truly reliable/enjoyable. Can I ask the car's useability in the rain with 335 rears? Unfortunately the UK is rather wet and as I'm away on research in summer & my wife forbids me to have an aquaplanning accident ;) I was thinking about converting to smaller tyres, either standard 308 widths/body, or, as the 288 GTO is the most beautiful car ever, a 288 "evocation". As you have experience with this kind of mod, would you mind me asking if either were advisable? (& what rear wing mods might cost?) 2nd, does the car still have the delicacy of 60's/70's cars? I see that you have a 2.4S--one of the things I most enjoy about my 2.4E & E30 M3 is their movement across the road on narrow tyres. It would be great to hear your thoughts as I need to decide in the near future between yours and another vetro. Thanks, John
