I usually haunt FerrariChat in the TR section as Vincenzo. While researching info for my belt change, your thread popped into view.

Please help me with a clarification on the definition of TDC per Ferrari...

Others have said that Ferrari's version of TDC is specified as 'the moment a piston reaches its greatest height in the cylinder bore'. This 'Ferrari version' is at the start of the 'dwell period' for the few degrees that crank rotation has little or no effect on piston movement. In contrast, on a US engine, TDC is specified as being in the middle of the dwell period.

Is it true that Ferrari's version of TDC is at the start of the dwell period?

Any suggestions on technique? You can see my current process in the below shown FerrariChat thread.

Hi John.
My name is Javier, and I recently got a 550, 2000. I was reading an old post about your 550 running on the hot side of the temp gauge. Mine happens to be doing the same, and I just changed the water pump, as well as the thermostat, and still is doing the same. I wonder if you had the radiator replaced for that, since the mechanic said that it was the last part to replace pertaining that matter.
I will really appreciate your insight in this matter.

Maybe you could help me out? I am looking at a 550 located in the Houston area. If my offer is accepted, I will need a PPI. Can you recommend one?
Last serviced at Sphere Motorsports for a wiring harness. S/N126039, 2001 USA model, Assembly #43241, Oct 2001 build date, ZFFZS49A910126039. It has 23,683 miles and I will be the 7th owner. I don't think it has received a lot of love in the last 10 years. It is being offered through Michael Sheehan. Thanks, William
