New fan... From south Europe!

Hi,

I was a visitor of this forum for a couple of months but now I decide to register.

I`m from Portugal and I want to learn more about my favourite car brand.

I am a lucky to have friends (and friends friends ) with these great machines:
- 355`s, 360`s, 550, 575m, Testarossa, 512Tr, F430... and almost other brands (Aston, Jaguar, Porsche, Lamborghini...)
I am used to drive a manual F355 Berlinetta and Spyder (rosso/nero Berlinetta and in a Blue/nero Spyder). Built for 15 years (Berlinetta) but still one of the most beautiful cars in history.

Best regards

Streets here in Japan average 40 to 60km/hr. Tollways max is 80km/hr. Photo/radars located everywhere. Routinely, radar trap cops are situated to flag you down. Nevermind the traffic in Tokyo megalopolis. Maybe that is why F40, F50, et al do not attract me. Of course you do see these super exotics in Tokyo quite often, but IMHO, just seems like a waste, except to show others what you can afford. Envy your Med climate, indeed. w/ smiles Jimmy

In Portugal speed limit is 120km/h in Tollways (only if you drive plus 140km/h you get in trouble), 90km/h in normal roads and 50km/h inside towns.
There are only few photo/radars and radar trap cops only at day time. At night they dont work because theres not enough light!
So, during the day we follow the limits but at night, if theres not a Police car on the way we can drive a "little" fast!

Envy. As mentioned earlier, super exotics are not fit for roads here in Japan. Last month, I saw this red F50 drive down the street in Tokyo (maybe it was going at 40km/hr), it just looked out of place. Even my AMG E60 is way overpowered. Even if I cruise down at 2000rpm, I'll be ticketed. (Frustrating). Would love to visit Europe one of these days and enjoy the weather and driving there. w/ smiles Jimmy

A belated welcome to you Bravus. Portugal is a beautiful part of the world. I had a fantastic vacation there in 2005 and plan to go back some day. Are you on the west coast or the Algarve?
