Hello, new here!

Hello everyone.

I am registering because I will hopefully be buying a 308 in the near future, and after browsing previous threads a bit, this seems like a good forum.

Whereas this would be my first Ferrari, I have been around 308s enough over the last few years to know them fairly well for a non-owner. I have been a fan of exotic cars my whole life, particularly those of the 1970s and 80s. My current fleet of cars includes two Lotus Esprits and a 944; past European cars include another Esprit, four 944s, a Series III XJ6, and a Lancia Scorpion (plus about 25 GM and Mopar classics).

I do all of my own work, and have pretty much been doing so since before I learned to drive. I have good sources for technical info on 308s, but I'm sure I will be popping on here with questions!

In my (humble) opinion, the Lotus Esprit S1, 308GTB, and Maserati Merak are the three most beautiful cars ever made, and I am a huge fan of Giugiaro's and Fioravanti's designs. A 308 or Merak has long been on my want list, but somehow I kept buying Esprits! If all goes well, that should be changing soon.

Cheers,

Tony K.

Thanks for the welcomes.

William -- thanks -- I believe I have that buyer's guide already. I've read at least half a dozen buyers guides by now! At this point, I actually have a car selected, pending inspection. Hoping not to find anything scary...

Chris -- are you in Detroit? I'm in Toledo.

Night Life -- lol! I'm Croatian -- my blood came from right across the sea -- close enough?

stile-alpine -- here is one of the cars that will share the garage with the 308:

Cheers,

Tony

As far as my purchase of a 308 goes, "soon" happened over the weekend!

Here is my new (to me) beast:

I inspected it with the owner of the shop that has been servicing it, and all was to my liking, so I went ahead and bought it!

Now I just have to wait . . . forever . . . until Spring!

Tony, congrats on your purchase, I hope that your baby turns out to be what you thought it would, or even better - enjoy it.

Thanks!

It's not flawless cosmetically as you can see, but mechanically it is pretty close to perfect. Engine, trans, clutch, suspension, brakes, steering, A/C, and electrics (including window and fuse block upgrades) are all in top shape. The service history shows that every little detail was attended to, and all of the above plus the cooling system were rebuilt/overhauled in recent years/miles. It had a valve adjustment and timing belt/tensioner change this past summer/1-2k miles ago.

It has a broken turn signal lever, but other than that, it just needs to be cleaned and polished a little . . . and driven!

Hi
I like you have had a couple of Lotus, a +2S and an Eclat, but compared to my 308GTB they do not come anywhere near as special, when you open the garage and you see it, all you can do is smile, pull up a chair and look at it!!!
WOW
