Nearly there ....

On the point of getting my first F, after a lifetime of working on 2-wheeled Ferraris that have toothed belts it seemed about time to have a 4-wheeled Ducati. Low mileage 550.

VanMan,

Welcome to the forum and at the risk of jinxing the deal, an early congrats.
You'll find some world-class experts on the 550 here, as well as a high percentage of owners.

Be advised, don't let on that you've bought it until you have pictures to post - we'll hound you to death otherwise....

Can someone outline the differences between the 550 content I might find on FLife as opposed to FChat please ?

Welcome,
550 is a great car, as pe rmyopinion the mielag eon Maranello is secondary because those engines are able to make more km without problems, more important is the regular maintenance and conservation, however I hope you will find a good car for a correct price ....

Welcome VanMan, have you found your car yet? Assume that is not Montpelier VT which dropped an "L" many years ago ;-) you may wish to do both FLife and FChat. Information and controversy on both. Maranello is an excellent choice for first or fifteenth Ferrari.

Welcome. Good choice. Don't worry too much about the mileage - these cars don't benefit from lack of use, even if their values do. Good condition and service history, pattern of regular use, signs of being loved, etc. are all more important (unless you are an "investor", but that is not the impression I get).

Best wishes, John
