ethics is gone ....

Guys i would like to inform you what i discovered last saturday on Facebook, my is only a vent, i can do nothing... every time i think that people work in correct but I am contradicted...

On 2015, after some months of starting o fmy project, i did a sport muffler for aa fiar 500 Abarth of a friend, i posted it and maybe some of you have watched, before to do the muffler i watched what was available on market, i designed muffler and the CAT downpipe as per my head, i not copied others is not in my thinking.

Ok, one week later my friend went in Bologna to a customized cars meeting where an Italian manufacturer of sport muffler (it is located in Lombardia) had a stand, 15 days later they put in their catalogue a downpipe exactly like mine!
It is strange, for many years they did the same un-thinked downpipe but after seen my they copied it!
The sport muffler that i did had a problem in the bypass, there was a bad vibration around 3000 rpm, but it did a very quite sound at bypass closed and loud at bypass open.

One month later again, my friend told me that wanted to give back me the muffler because he had knew a guy that did a sport mufflers as principal work and he would make a new exhaust for him ...
He gave me back the muffler, but after one month came to me with his 500 Abarth and told:
"Fabio, my friend M. did a new muffler with bypass, but the sound at bypass closed and open is the same, do you know why?"..

I answered he: " dear my friend, Yes I know why it do that, but please ask to the your manufacturer because you and him did much critics to my muffler, for you it was not good and now you asked me because his silencer don't work good??..."
Also this is strange, a person who did sport mufflers for principal job and write lot of great things in his website, he don't know why his silencer don't work good??!! ....

I keept my muffler in my shop for three years until the 2018 when my friend Alessandro (the guy who have the blue 456) purchased a 500 abarth, when he discovered that i had a muffler he wanted.... I replaced the bypass valve and sold it.
He is entusiast, car is quite like original and loud like a race car, only by pushing in a switch.

But we come to last saturday, i'm passing some time crossing thru Facebook and i see the website of this guy who did the muffler for the 500 Abarth, i watched some his pictures and at a certain point i said "But this is my muffler?!"
I found the pictures dated 2015 of the silencer that he did for the 500 Abarth, muffler design is clearly copied from my, before i did this design nobody did a muffler like that for the 500 Abarth.....

- first picture is my drawing
- second picture is the muffler of the competitor, copied but as becasue he didn't knew what he was copying .... he did some mistakes ....

At the end i don't know why that companies who sell himself as "the best" an also wrote on their websites "they do lot of studies ..." need to copy my ideas ....

But who i'm? I'm only a person who it was teached to use the head for thinking .... I never copied at school, i was not capable, i need to understand what i do ....

I need to trust to the person with who i exchange friendly or business and i give back they same trust ....

Thanks to all guys that spent their time for read ...

Best regards at all

Fabio

Fabio- It saves a lot on engineering if you just steal others' ideas or copy their products. Just ask the Chinese.

Fabio, what is the difference between the Race type and the high performance type manifolds? I see some sort of rail on the high performance one, presumably for air or something?

Hello Bas,

the only difference is the secondary air system, yes the rails with the fititng to the air pump.
I do that because when is installed on the car it appear an original equipment, that could be interesting if "someone" inspect the engine compartment ....

Hello Friends,
a German friend of chat who live in Firenze, i meet him 5 years ago and with it was born a great friendship, now he have in restoration his Porsche 924 Turbo, the car have the header cracked, he discovered that Porsche not supply the part, and used are all broken, then he asked me if i could do new in Stainless Steel.
After spoking with the mechanic that is restoring the car we desided to change little bit the design of the header in order to permit a welding construction and have better flow in respect to the original.

Following the single phases of construction:
- 3D scanning
- CAD modelling of new header
- did the drawings od single sub parts and of the jig
- manufacuring of single parts
- did the jig
- preassembly and welding on the jig (by my welder)
- chemical pickling
- milling of the head flange because after welding it was deformed a little bit.

I think result is not bad, my welder as per his experience told me "this manifold have infinite life"

Next sunday i will meet my friend Chris in Bologna and i will give him the new manifold for his Porsche.

Enjoy your trip to the UK, Fabio. Unfortunately the opposite end of the country to me. Try the Newcastle Brown Ale and let us know what you think of it.

Fabio,
You’re not a mechanic, you’re an “Artist”.

John,
Had a “few” of those when we took Arc Royal to Newcastle for a run ashore. Both the run ashore and the NBAs are fond memories.
