Hello from Utrecht, The Netherlands

Hi Guys,

Here's an introduction to a new member from Holland. My name is Marnix Benink, I am 36 yrs old and proud father of a 3 yr old boy and 5 yr old girl. I just bought my first Ferrari a few weeks ago; a very nice Grigio Titanio 550 with Bordeaux and all the to me important extra's like Daytona seats, leather parcell, Scuderia shields, sports exhaust, red calipers etc.

I'm sure just like for most of you, owning a Ferrari has been a life long dream. To finally make it happen feels really, really good. The first drive last Friday after picking it up from it's major service was really amazing. Having read so much about the 550 in recent times I hardly couldn't wait any more and I must say it really lives up to it's reputation. What a fantastic car! A perfect blend of grand, luxurios touring with nice sportiness. That engine is a monster!!

So far I've been reading lots of interesting stuf other people have scribbled over the past some ten years on this forum. The wealth of information available from all of you is mind boggling and has already helped me lots. Thank you so much for that!! Hope this forum will thrive for many years to come and hope to meet many of you and see your beautiful F's somewhere in the future! First trip planned: the 2015 Mille Miglia in May.

Will post pics of the 550 in the V12 section.

Cheers, Marnix

Marnix- Welcome to Ferrari Life and that sounds like a really nice 550 with all the wanted options. Look forward to seeing photographs.

The MM in a Maranello? Now that sounds like fun. Everything I have seen about the revival MM sounds like something to put on your bucket list.

Thanks Terry!

Have visited and followed the MM revival many times now in everything from a Lotus Elise via a TVR Chimaera to a BMW 535d, but never in a Ferrari. Looking very much forward to driving my Maranello to holy grounds.

The MM is a truly fantastic event and a must do for every petrolhead. It is possible to follow 98% of the entire route with any normal car and the crowds along the route make it an experience to never forget.

Mate I don't know what you are going on about but I still find you irresistible. I say this at my beautiful Italian wife Lina's peril! Maybe it's just not in the cards for us but at least we should meet at the MM2016. I know that you have declined my 2015 advances on account of treating your wife to the Balearic Islands for her special birthday! It's a good excuse and I will leave it at that.

Until our embrace,

David.

You smart Europeans have to tone it down a bit so us southerners can understand.

Do you realise last time you were in Spain & Mallorca I was in Monaco & Côte d'Azur, this time its reversed, perhaps it's telling us to stay away from each other, cos Im damn sure we could lead each into mischief

2016 is the year of the Monaco Classic GP, its on a few weeks before the F1 Race, and around the time of the MM, so let's get our clever heads on and make plans, be great to hook up with you guys!

Mate I am up for it. Sounds like a fine plan. I'd love to do the MM. You'd better tell Habsy that it also involves us driving his LaFa over a cliff to get Instagram footage. He is so cool he probably would just say 'Send me a copy".

Come to think of it guys, join me at @davidkpowell Let's make FL take over IG.

Always welcome for tips about the MM guys. I've been there a few times. The first time you experience a police escort on public roads in Italy, just because it's the MM and you've put up some stickers on your car, is just unforgettable.

There is a nice report from Harry Metcalfe, former Editorial Director of EVO Magazine on his experience of the 2011 MM Ferrari Tribute in his 550 Barchetta.

At some point he also gets such a police escort. If you go to the MM and follow, you will most likely experience the same. Italians, you've gotta love 'em!

I also got a Police Escort in Italy driving Habsy's FF.....nope got that wrong, it was a speeding ticket & my passengers Brett from Canada, Mark from USA, Nick from Holland (all FL guys) paid a quarter share with me for the experience, was 1st time Mark had flown at F1 speeds, the fine was a mere €40, lol.

Habsy has a very good story of his own about the Italian Policeman & his boss when driving his Cali back from Switzerland, but I'll let him chip in & tell it himself if he sees this post....come on Paul, spill the beans to our pals!!!

I was surprised too, we were travelling between Modena & Lamborghini & were motoring along nicely, we had not long seen the Italian Polices Gallardo. Anyhow, I overtook over a long straights solid white line, a cop ran out from a side street waving a stop paddle, like something out of the keystone cops, I was gonna ignore him as we were in a Swiss plate car, but further on another cop ran out into the road & knowing we weren't in my own Ferrari & we'd not long seen the Polices Gallardo I thought it best I pull in, don't think Paul would have appreciated a pull further down the line, anyhow laughed my socks off when I saw these 2 cops mode of transport, bloody scooters, so smiled politely, paid the tiny fine, showed them the amazing FF & carried on to enjoy a brief factory visit at Lamborghini. Btw, Lamborghini wouldn't allow the FF into their compound or Carpark, so we parked up next door, had the briefest of visits & drove off to enjoy a fantastic tour of Maranello & Ferrari Factory....this is another reason why Audi, sorry meant Lambo sucks, assholes!!!

Welkom Marnix! Er leeft al een tijd een blauwe 550 zo'n 30km verderop.

Mooie kleurencombo, gefeliciteerd!

Welcome to the best online petrolhead society I've found up to date, Marnix!
I wish you all the best with your Ferrari! Congratulations!

By the way, some of us are going to the 24h Nurburgring in May, which is not that far from your location, so feel free to join us if you like!

Edit: Oops, just realized MM and the 24h race are on the same dates....now that sucks...why would they do that!?

Наздраве, Цветан!

Certainly true, but please respect the participants. They use brakes from the 1930's and I've seen many, many, very irresponsible people in their cheap "sports cars" scaring the life out of the people that are supposed to make this event so great by wanting to prove their car is faster than a 1928 Bugatti T-35 doing insane overtaking maneuvers. Just follow the cars, let them overtake you, and just soak up these wonderful cars in action on the road.

If we all behave like hooligans, this event will be terminated soon enough. There is already a lot of talk about that.

Personally I also do not have a lot of time for the people that put fake stickers on their car. Respect the event. You can join in the fun without frustrating the organisers and participants.

I caught that moment on camera....

The way that HUGE policemen got out of nowhere was extremely funny haha, every time i see this picture it makes me smile :crown grin:

The white spot in the first picture is our Scottish friend, unregenizable of course otherwise all the top model scouts would not leave him alone!!!
