Greetings

I've been signed into FL for several months now, and wanted to formally introduce myself.

Like all of us here on FL I love cars, and have a special affinity for the Ferrari brand, though I do not own one (yet). As the proud father of triplet sons (16 years old now) I'm resigned to the fact that my Ferrari dreams will need to wait a while. Two words I never expected to utter in my life are "my minivan" but that is how you roll when you need to fit 3 car seats.

Last year I paid to drive a 360 Modena which I chose over a Lamborghini Gallardo, preferring a scalpel to a sledge hammer. My sons convinced my wife to treat me to this as a Fathers Day gift. The Modena was beautiful, and a thrill to drive.

Several months ago the lottery jackpot was sky high so like others in my office I bought a ticket, and found myself daydreaming about the cars I would own if I got lucky. I decided to list the 10 cars I would own with unlimited means as fast as I could think of them without spending too much thought on the exercise. Here is my list...

1975 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible - red with white leather interior
1972 Plymouth Barracuda
1987 Buick Grand National
1972 Dino 246 GT
1985 Ferrari 288 GTO
1987 Ferrari F40
2004 Ferrari Enzo
2013 Ferrari 458 Italia
1970 Jaguar E Type
1967 Shelby Cobra

4 Ferraris made the list! Guess that's why I joined this group.

Your probably wondering how the Eldorado got onto my list as it certainly bears no resemblance to the other 9 cars I crave. My first car, and first automotive love was a 1975 Ford Thunderbird, and so I have a soft spot for huge 2 door land yachts. The Eldo may be the only car on my list I actually own some day.

Cheers,
Scott

Scott- Welcome to Ferrari Life. That list would definitely require me to hit the lottery, especially the Ferraris.

I built a Revell 1:24 scale 72 Barracuda Convertible a while ago, and so this year sticks in my head more than the 71. I agree the 71 with a big block would make any motor head drool.

Terry:
As I recall the Megamillions jackpot was somewhere around 300 million USD at the time. Taxman takes half. I doubt the remaining dollars could buy the cars on this list. A Ferrari / Maserati dealership in my home town recently listed a spectacular 288 GTO in their online inventory asking 1.8 million USD for the car. It is no longer listed as part of their inventory, so I presume it sold. I wonder how much the lucky new owner spent to take her home.

I drive by this toy store daily and tell myself someday...

Figure another 350K to outfit the show car garage and you would be set. My dream garage comes with a wet bar, stripper pole, and big screens for the games.

You are right, the model I built was actually a 71, and not even a convertible. I spent so many hours painting and polishing this you would think I'd remember the details better. I must be getting old. This model sits on my shelf between the Polar Lights 1:24 Speed Racer Mach V and Revell's 1:24 1968 Dodge Dart (Mr. Norm's) Good thing I wrote my list in pencil, it needs to be fixed now.

Cheers
