New Member - From Porsche to Ferrari

Gentlemen,

Greetings and I hope everyone is having a pleasent week so far. My name is Gabriel von Wahl and I have decided in this past week with my wife that I will be aquiring a 360 coupe in the next two months as a reward for some recent accomplishments.

I look forward to gleaning all the information this wonderful forum has to offer - this group seems to have the real enthusiasm and passion lacking from other forums filled with those too hung up on themselves to notice they are not truly enjoying their experience.

Shamille (sp?) got me over here from Fchat while being very helpful concerning a Testarossa engine question I had.

Regards,

Gabriel von Wahl

Hello Gabriel,

Congratulations on your accomplishments and welcome. I too am seeking a 360, but it will be a Spider F1, and I feel it will make its way home in the next few months also.

Just out of curiousity, what are your primary reasons for leaving Porsche to join the Ferrari ranks?

In case you haven't already done so, I'd recommend a subscription to Ferrari Market Letter (as little as $40) - this gives you access to select classified ads and to the Asking Price Index. The FML has been helpful as I build the finance model for the car.
I'm not sure where you're located in the world. Here in the USA, we have classified ads on Autotrader, Cars.com, eBay, Dupont Registry, and others.

Thanks!

Gabriel- Welcome to Ferrari Life. Take a look at ferraridatabase.com for a bunch of Ferrari factory technical data on the 360.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome, I'm truly enjoying this site and all the posts made by such passionate owners.

Karakal: I'm looking for a Black on Black 360

Rajeev: I'm originally from Huntington Beach, CA but relocated to Dallas-Fort Worth, Tx to get my company I just started off the ground. Not a fan of the heat, but at least i'm not in Afghanistan any longer!

The reason I'm switching over from vintage turbo Porsches is that while my 935 K3 project was amazing - I tend to get carried away with deleting all comforts, carbon doors and plastic windows etc. that make it unbearable to drive in heat on the street with a woman in the car. I want a race car on the street - with Porsches there is much needed to change to suit my tastes, but with the Ferrari - with subtle personalization it is 99% what I want with everything I need to make the wife happy.

So between a 991 or a 360, the passion just seems to be gone from Porsche these days with the Marketing department running the show, the choice was easy. I plan on driving the 360 daily, and from what I see I will be able to apprecaite the shape, feel and sound even sitting in traffic.

The most important thing to me however is the comradarie that I've noticed among the Tifosi. The Porsche crowd these days is filled with more and more that have no clue as to the rich history that brought them their coveted crest - Ferrari owners for the most part from whom I've met enjoy and revel in it. I want to be around people that are like minded in the appreciation of beauty and the pursuit of automotive perfection.

Taz: Thank you! I will definately consult the site. I plan on doing just about all maintenance items myself as I love the intimacy you develop by working on your "mistress" when its a task that doesn't require the Dealer/Factory support.

Shamille shared a ton of of information for the Testarossa and Lambo over there.

His fb page with endless girlies seems like he is doing just FINE!

Good luck on your search.

Gabriel- If you want to do most of the maintenance yourself, a three pedal car may suit you better than an F1. But then, we hope Duram Plummer is going to have a Ferrari diagnostic tool out sometime and his first one will be for the 360 at an affordable price. More than his Porsche tools, but way less than any of the alternatives.

Welcome Gabriel. A Ferrari is a true gift and I can't imagine anyelse being the most exclusive gift. A 360 as well as other Ferrari models are a real pleasure to work on. Everything is easy to access and you'll have no issues to manage the basic maintenance operations. Enjoy your reseach

Yes i'm looking for the gated shifting experience so many continue to reference, the F1 setup is very trick, however I like my shifting to involve me in the process, not just make me a "user" in lieu of a driver. I spend too much time in front of computers as it is .

Again, thank you all for the warm welcome.
