4 F-cars... time to say hello.

Greetings all,
I've been lurking for some time now - great board, great resources here. I've loved Ferraris ever since I was a kid, so when opportunity permitted I finally got one. I was not aware at the time I did so that they can be habit forming!

The current set:
1997 F355 Spider (purchased for my father for his 60th birthday in '00)
2009 F430 Scuderia 16M (who could resist a convertible Scuderia?)
2010 458 Italia (my wife's daily driver)
2011 599 60F1 (wife and I both fell in love with this one the first time we saw it)

-Ben

Ben- Welcome to Ferrari Life. That is quite a collection you have. Hope to see some photos soon.

What is a 599 60F1? Closest I could think of is the 60 ms shift time of the GTO.

You should talk - the F40 is probably my all-time favorite!

I'd say best driver is a tossup between the 458 and the 599. The 599 is really smooth and mellow, especially on the lower ESP settings. The 458 is definitely more lively (steering and throttle response both) but just as easy to cover the miles in.

Taz, the name was to celebrate the 60 years Ferrari has been in F1.

As a master tourer, the 599 really is hard to beat.

Thanks on the F40. It is an amazing piece of kit.

Any other autos of interest in your garage?

It seems to polarize Ferrari enthusiasts - some love it, some abhor it. My wife and I were both struck by it the first time we saw it, and that was that.

The 355 is the normal Ferrari red. The picture is a decade old .. he still drives it every day it isn't snowing, up to 38,000 miles last I checked.

Cheers, Ben ( Too many toys, not enough garage space! )

Ben- Thanks for the info and photos. Looks great and would look even meaner with GTO wheels. Looks like a great car for staying unnoticed. Not.

Now I get it. The 599 60F1 celebrates Gonzales victory in 1951 in the 375, the first for a Ferrari in Formula 1. Ferrari raced in Formula 1 the first year of the championship in 1950, but did not win until 1951.

Funny - four different 500-600HP 2-door, 2-seat cars, you might think they'd be similar. They each have very different personalities and different driving experiences. The 16M is a hooligan machine - track-oriented spring rates, corsa tires, loud exhaust, super-fast shifts, very dramatic to drive. I feel I should be grabbing my nomex and helmet before climbing in The 458 by comparison is less extreme - smoother, softer, quieter, but still very much a car built for corners. The MP4 is the street car of the bunch - slower shifts during street driving, quietest exhaust, compliant suspension, powerband which emphasizes the midrange rather than top-end.

Thanks. If you had to pick one to live with every day, which would it be?
