The New Guy

Hi, my friends call me chuck. I'm new to this forum and to ferraris in general. I have always loved the magnum P.I. car i believe it was the 308 gts. since my youth I dreamed of owning one of these bad boys but to tell you the truth I never thought I would be able to afford & maintain a ferrari. I am doing well for myself my family is taken care of for the most part. I think its time to splurge a bit. there are so many choices to choose from.so i have decided I would like either the 575M Maranello or F 430 as my daily driver.my budget is $130,000. Any other models I should be looking at as a daily driver? thanks for your help. PEACE!

Chuck- Welcome to Ferrari Life. For $130K you can get a really outstanding 575M and have money remaining. You can also get an early F430 coupe with a bit of mileage for that much money. Totally different cars, but then you already knew that. You can also get a good 612 or a 360 CS in that price range.

Both the 575M and the F430 are suitable as daily drivers and both have proven to be very reliable. The V8 is flashier and better on winding raods, the V12 is more suited to continent eating or daily driving. Just depends on what you want. Really good 575Ms are available for $100K, but the choices for an F430 at $130K will be more limited except for the fact they built ~10 times more of them.

Welcome to FL

With $130k you have a few choices all very different. I suggest doing your homework and if possible take a 430 or 575 out for a drive, they are very different cars. Some 599 are starting to enter the $150k range FYI

Tom Selleck should get royalties for the number of Ferrari owners who were inspired by Magnum P.I.

I know this is going to sound silly because of the cars we are talking about but I don't care about flash so much. I've dealt with a lot of young urban & pop artist that have 360's & 430's either vert or hard top. I like those cars a lot they're sleek and sexy. just don't want some snot nose with some sooped up import thinking his 500hp eclipse is in the same league cause he watched fast and the furious. I want to pay around 100-110k then use the rest of the budget for a few mods like performance stereo system & etc, I am also leaning towards the 612 because to me it has a clean sophisticated look and the hp of course..

I'd like to think it was the effect of the 308, but out of that list , Selleck is STILL cool.

Welcome to the forum

Good like on your search - feel free to post the Ferrari's as you seek them out for purchase.

In searching for which one to choose keep in mind every new model is more and more reliable with less maintenance even the same model has upgrades during it's run.

FF 16M Speciale
Lamborghini SV Roadster
Carrera GT GT3RS Viper ACR
Bentayga 69z28 Healey

Chuck- The early 612s and 575Ms share the same drivetrain, so you will be happy with either. The interior of the 612 is much more modern and luxurious and offered modern conveniences like Homelink, cruise control, etc. as options. The 575M has memory for the driver's seat and TPMS, and that is about it.

I called 3 ferrari dealers in my area to see about test drives because just looking @ specs & reading reviews don't give me a clear picture of what i should get. So i've scheduled a test drive of an 05 612, 02 575m , 09 F430 scuderia & 07 599gtb on monday. hopefully I will be able come to some conclusion after the test drive. my brain is on overload right now. I hadn't been this confused since i was an intern @ chung studios. I thought choosing the right mic, compressor & preamp combo for a particular voice was difficult. Anyway here are a few cars that I have found some interest in tell me what you guys think
