Introduction

Hello Everyone, I am new here, and have a 2004 Maserati Spyder. Best purchase of my life. I hope a "lowly" M-car owner can be at home here! All the best. Borca

Borca- Welcome. Ferraris and Maseratis are kindred spirits and, in the olden days, serious competitors. Your car has a Ferrari designed and produced engine. Tell me what your engine number is and we can probably fit it into the production line with my 04. Cannot get much more closely related than that.

How about some photos?

Maserati Pix

Thank you for the very welcoming emails. I've attached some pictures. This is a 2004 Spyder, which I purchased last fall with about 12,000 miles on it. It has the center X-pipe removed (replaced with larini exhaust). I don't know how they sound stock but I sure like it now! I am also a "Ducatisti" although I'm riding less and less (my biggest fear has become the paranoia of a texting driver near me while I'm on a bike).

One of great myths in the automotive world, that needs to be dispelled somehow, is the absolute lack of arrogance of Ferrari owners. Getting this car and making friends with other enthusiasts has without question been one of the great experiences for me, and I'm grateful to finally have something that I've wanted since I was a little boy. It's all better than good.

Again, thank you for your welcoming remarks.

Nice! It looks so small especially next to a newer Maserati.

I know you, Saint Bastage, and I'd like to shout out that every club should have someone looking out for them, and other car enthusiasts, like we have in CT, with this man right here. You are a class act. And your little dog too!

Very pretty Maserati. The 90 degree crank in the Maser engine gives a different sound compared to a Ferrari's 180 deg crank. Maser engines actually benefit from an X-pipe to help exhaust gas extraction, unlike Ferrari's engines.

Thank you for that advice. I received the original x-pipe with the car, so I can quite easily go back to original. I appreciate that tidbit.
