575m search

I am starting to search for my first Ferrari. It seems that a 575m would be a good fit for me (66y/o first generation Italian, starting to work on my bucket list).
I live on the east coast.
I have been following some of the blogs and this is my first post. It seems like Taz has been most helpful in advising newbies and others on this particular model. What build # for a 2004 will come with the most desirable upgrades. What should I look for or avoid. Is it better to purchase from a Ferarri dealer. Has anyone had experience with Marshall Goldman in Ohio. It seems that $90-125k is the range for 04-05s.
Taz if your out there any help/advice would be greatly appreciated, and I very much look forward to the day I can log on as an owner.
THANKS

John C, just wanted to extend a welcome from another John C, although I suspect our family names are quite different

Good luck in your search; Taz is definitely the man on 575's

'99 550, Rosso Corsa / Nero, S/N:114654, Assy: 31836, Engine: 52084

High mileage, low compression, and missing on a few cylinders.....just like my cars.

John- Welcome to Ferrari Life. The first big upgrade was at AN 51797 for straight center pipes and the really big one was at 52556 for the steering position sensor and 50 amp F1 pump relay. All documented in the 575 Technical Thread. More changes in 05 shown in the changes document in the same thread.

Good options to have are 19" modulars, Daytonas and leather shelf, and FHP, none of which mine has except FHP.

Ferrari dealers and big independents are usually the most reliable.

Prices are in the range you list.

After you read the technical thread, see what questions you have.

Marshal Goldman has been in the business a very long time and I have never heard any particularly bad info on them.

But always, caveat emptor.

John, welcome! you've got the right man in Taz. I've just one comment: I'd not get a 575 without the Fiorano handling package - FHP. In fact I passed on a beautiful 6-speed manual that at the time I would have preferred to the F1 transmission mine has, because that 575 lacked the FHP.

Thanks to all for your input. I guess I'll need to show some patience. Marshall Goldman has an '04 that just listed ( no FHP/4000 miles). $140k seems steep from what I've seen so far. If anyone learns of a good car let me know.

Ferrari Market Letter is another source. Usually direct from owners. In the early days, Gerald combed newspapers, but evolved later to mostly owner ads.

Hi all,
I have an agreement on the car you mentioned. PPI checked out great and just waiting for final paperwork to go through. Interesting process since I went from Ohio to LA/ San Diego to scout out several cars. Until the title is in hand.......
As soon as everything is completed, I will be posting the details. Can't wait to be part of the group (Officially!).

My son told me the same thing since he lives in Denver. Said the twisties there would be a good test for the car! Here I thought he was going to buy me lunch Probably another two weeks before it arrives. The wait is tough.

Thx Terry. The car is fully optioned out and even included $2100 of "special features" per the sticker. It didn't hit me until we were well down the path and here it is a leather briefcase and leather wallet in original packaging. Too cool.

Dan- The briefcase should hold your tool kit, and the wallet the owners manual and other documentation. Make sure you have the Alarm PIN in the wallet somewhere.
