Which would be better 94/95 348 or any 328?

I am a fan stylistically of the 328 over the 348. But the closest you can get to a convertible in a 328 is the GTS. In my search I have ran across a couple late production (1994/95) 348 Spider's for sale at what seem to be reasonable prices (45k+/). Reading other posts on this forum, the 348 seems to have a few more "bugs" than other 3x8 cars. But would a late production 348 still have these?

As this would be my first F car, advise would be much appreciated. Thanks

Late 348's are in my opinion the best of a very troubled model.

Balance that against the fact that the newest 328 is over 24 years old.

The 328 was a great car and more easily serviced by an owner or someone who is not a specialist in Ferrari. If I had a 348 I would want a Ferrari mechanic with extensive 348 product knowledge and experience close by.

Brian- Would your friend at Ferrari of Atlanta be a person for 348 maintenance?

He is one of the senior guys. One of the real problems with the flat rate system and the dealers is the senior people get a lot of freedom in picking their jobs. They will pick the models and type of jobs that will allow them the most billable hours. That will most often exclude older models. The older cars will most often go to the most junior people and that will probably mean the 348's will be worked on by someone too young to be watching Romper Room when the 348 was in production.

In general terms anyone taking any model prior to a 360 to a dealer is nuts. It is just a recipe for trouble.

So true. I just had a 208 Turbo in that had full "dealer" history. What a mess....

We shut the shop in Cyprus because the economy was about to collapse, all the signs were there so we got out at the right time, and have a place in U.K now.

I hear Verdi's place with all the equipment is up for grabs.

Seriously though, you must be a glutton for punishment.

Eddie- Did not realize you had moved. Where are you in the UK?

The whole European Med is on the verge of collapse. The Euro is killing them. No way to devalue the local currency and the EU expects them to act like Germans. Not going to happen.

Yes, it was a difficult decision, The easy solution would have been to go work for a dealer or specialist but I'm way to stubborn to give up, even with the way the market has changed so much, and not for the better. Verdi's has shut, and I've got a fair few of his old clients using me now. We only have a small shop that takes 5 cars, which has resulted in not having the huge overheads we used to (that kept me awake at night worrying!) so we have managed to be competitive enough in an already weak market. It wasn't easy to walk away from something you put 7 years of your time into, but so far no regrets! It's early days yet but if it doesn't work out I may be begging for a job with you Brian!!!!

Taz, I'm based just outside of London. And yes, I agree, the economy in those parts is trashed. We were lucky to get out when we did.
