K40 and Clear Bra Advice Please

I just purchased my first Ferrari (f430 Spider). Dealer is proposing a full clear bra and K40.
They are asking around $1900 for full clearbra and $1100 for partial front. Also asking $2500 for K40 installed and $599 for skidpad. This all adds up to a lot of money. Any thoughts from anyone with experience in this area on 1. How important these additions are and 2. What I should be paying. Much appreciated.

BTW, I live in NYC so would like to know if K40 works well here.

opinion

Just my opinion:

K40 is overpriced and does not out perform a $400 Valentine One. My F355 came with one, and although it is built in, stealth, and has a cool factor, I think it misses lots of Bogeys. My Valentine works like a charm. I have it high, next to the mirror, and ran a hardwire down to the fuse box. Totally hidden wire. I honestly never turn on the K40.

Love my clear bra, but shop around....those prices are at the high end.

What's a skid pad? Sounds like BS. I have "hockey pucks" under F355, cost about $100 if I recall.. Nothing under 360 except the clear bra, don't think 430 is much different.

current Ferraris: 1995 F355 Spider, 2000 360F1 Modena

Stand up and be counted, or lay down and be mounted.

I spent 2500,00 for the Passport - love it!

Also just installed the clear bra on my 16M and willing to bet it's the same installer I just used as they do all of EMM's work.

Strongly recommend all three especially if it's Mark at Clear Bra.

The price for the clear bra is reasonable, assuming when you say "full" they will also do the whole hood. Check also that they include the forward faces of the mirrors.

$2500 for the K40 isn't too bad - you'll spend about that much if you want to get the Escort 9500ci, which IMO is a better system. I'm still not sure if I'm going to install the Escort in my 360. But, for the way I've been driving her, I won't really need it. I'm not planning to go at high speeds on the interstate, which is where a system like that would benefit the most. Bottom line, they're not doing you any favors on price, so if it were me, I'd skip it. Drive the car a while and determine if you really NEED/WANT it, then buy it from a good local indie shop, who has proven themselves with good work. Don't buy from the dealer because you feel like you have to.

$599 for skid pads is highway robbery. Materials are $100-$110 AT MOST, and it won't take more than 1 hour to install, so if the tech time is $125/hour, you're looking at around $235. They're double charging you. Skip it.

Good luck with the car. If it were my car, I'd skip the K40 for now. Like you, I wanted the Escort SO BAD until I actually bought the car, then realized I don't really need it. But to each his own, and it's your money, not mine.

EDIT: PS: Doug, I LOVE the installation of the display for your Escort. That's genius. Would you mind posting a few pics of the transceiver locations on the front and rear of the car??? Thanks.
