I have decided to purchase my first Ferrari and it will be a 95-98 456 gt but still have lots to learn. Would appreciate anyones input on the list of questions i am planning to send to two dealers abroad having cars i am currently considering. Please let me know what is what may not be of importance and what may be missing. Many thanks for all help !!!!

Has therecalls been dealt with?
Any current or previous problem with too much oil pressure?
Any previous or current problems with the circlip holding the reverse gear to the gear cluster ?
When was the shock absorbers last replaced?
When was cambelt last changed ?
Has the car ever had any coolant leakage?
How has the service program been since it was new?
When is the last inspection report of the car issued by an autorized Ferrari workshop from?
Are the windows on the doors ‘tight’ without space for fingers in between the plast/B-pillar and glass?
Is the rubber sealing on both sides around the back window tight and no leakage issues?
Does original tool cit and leather cases follow the car?
How does the rubber list on ‘floor’ of the the driver side look?
How many owners has it had ?
Are there any bubbles on the plastic inside around ac controls etc due to heat?
Is the headliner/(roof) inside the car ‘tight’ and good looking ?
Any shrinking of leather inside the car on instrument panels etc ?

Welcome to the forum Newbie, you've come to the right place for answers.
The 456 is an excellent choice, in fact my wife and I are also looking for a 456M.
I suggest you download the 456 Buyers Guide, it will answer most of your questions above.
Also, the 456 has been well discussed here, a search of the Modern V12 section will turn up a wealth of info.
Good luck with your search.

Of all the narcissists I know, I love me the most.

Thanks a lot for input guys. I am in dialogue on one specific car now and had the following replies.
Is there anything i should ask for more detials on or something that is good or bad here?? Thanks..!!

1. There was only one recall during my ownership and that was for some sort of shield under the engine, which was completed.
2. I never had any sort of oil pressure problem
3. I never had any sort of gearbox problem
4, The shocks were rebuilt by Delta Vee in Michigan. They are well known for this repair and guarantee them for as long as I own the car.
5. Cambelts were replaced about two years ago.
6. I had coolant leaks. Since then, the radiator was replaced with one from a 456M and all hoses upgraded by the Ferrari dealer
7. I have had the annual service done by the dealer done every year.
8. The last full service was in July of 2012. In 2011, the dealer did a complete inspection as part of a Ferrari Club event and found the car to be in excellent condition with no problems.
9. 575 type motor mounts were installed by the dealer when the front shocks were rebuilt.
10. The window fit is excellent.
11. There is no leakage around the back window.
12. The carpet is excellent on all sides. Floor mats helped.
13. I am the third owner.
14. The ac panel was replaced with a decal from Ricambi America. Cannot tell from original
15. The headliner is excellent
16. Leather on the rear shelf was replaced with vinyl which does not shrink and looks exactly like leather.
17. The dashboard has very slight shrinkage around one AC vent

Everything sounds nice and normal but I doubt #9 IIRC, BRIAN did not feel they were interchangeable even though that 575 mount is superior

I'll have to go to RICAMBI and search the part and cross model abilities.
