2000 Ferrari 550 Help

Hi Everyone,

Beverly Hills Car Club has a 2000 Ferrari 550 for sale. I wanted to reach out to you guys and see if you had any information about this car? if it looks like a good purchase?

I've spoken with the dealer and they have a few of the maintenance records, but nothing in too much detail.

The car has been in a rear-ender that a shop said was repaired for about $2,500.

VIN: ZFFZS49A1Y0121556

Link to the car: Beverly Hills Car Club :: 2000 Ferrari 550 Maranello -

Thanks!

Monnu- Probably a lot of car for the money if she has been well maintained over the last five or six years (earlier not as important if the records are not available). Make sure there are no valve guide issues. Very few 550s have had the issue, which mainly affects 456s and F355s that also have bronze valve guides, but it is worth making sure. Repairing can be a five figure job. Clutch wear can be checked visually with a borescope and is also worth a look. Find someone good to do the PPI.

Thanks for the info Terry! I've been told by one of the shops I contacted that Black Horse Motors in LA is a reputable place for a PPI; can anyone confirm that or suggest a good shop they know of in the LA area?

Thanks,

Black Horse has a good reputation with most owners.

Also check for gas fumes in the trunk and behind the seats, especially in a car that has been hit from the rear.

Boxer- Good point. If he reads some of the other threads he can see what needs to be checked. Fuel pumps/lines, plenum hoses, shock actuators, 575M motor mount upgrade, window actuation, spark plug wires and coils, one red and two black fobs, etc.
