360 scheduled maintenance and critical problems

I am in the process of buying a 360 spider and have the following questions:
Is there a list of items that i need to determine if they have been done, scheduled or not.
I understand there were issues with mounts etc that were corrected , what year was that?
I guess the question of the day is , are there years that make more sense to purchase vs others, ie a later year maybe more money but am i buying fewer problems

Please help, i want to trade in my 911 and wish to do this before christmas

thanks

Pathman,

Welcome to the forum. It depends on the year of the car. Before 2002, the variators needed upgrading. But most cars should have received that upgrade by now. The cats will go sometime, just a matter of when.

I say read the Buyer's Guide for a good rundown of typical items and plan to buy the best (newest) car you can afford.

Oh, and a PPI is a MUST.

Of all the narcissists I know, I love me the most.

PM- Go to ferraridatabase.com and download owners manuals and workshop manuals, plus much more, for free. There is a maintenance schedule in the OM. Read through that and then get back to us with specific questions. Not aware of any mount problems with the 360, but maybe a 360 owner can chime in.

OPW?

PM- Welcome to Ferrari Life and good luck with the search. The good news is there are a lot of good 360s out there, of which 2119 Spiders had three pedals, ~28% of Spider production. There is a 360 Buyer's Guide here for members and Forza recently published one as well, with problem areas highlighted by our own Brian Crall.

I've had three PPIs performed on 360's - each done by a different shop. While discussing the engine inspection all mechanics noted a concern for the frame bracket in the '99 models, something about the breakdown of the bracket that mounts to the frame can result in engine mount cracking. They noted Ferrari made a correction starting in '00 but I'm unsure what/when the correction was (bracket I assume?). I cannot help much to what a failure looks like as none of the 360's I inspected had a cracked mount. From what I learned, all '99 360 inspections should include a detailed engine mount inspection, maybe early '00 builds too.

that is great information. I was wondering if anyone knew of a inspector in the palm beach area in Florida who I could hire in order to inspect a potential purchase. What sort of rate would I be charged.?
