Service History Help

Hi guys! I am in the process of looking for a 599 GTB and have found one at an attractive price. However, it was a repossession and comes with NO books (as it was taken on bad terms).

Is there perhaps a database where it is possible to check and see if service history has been recorded? I have tried Maranello UK, and whilst they have record of brake pads being changed, they have not personally serviced the car.

Thanks for your time,
Ricki

I think the dealer can only access the recalls ( with completed or not status) and the service they did at their shop. A really thorough pre-purchase inspection may be enough for your peace of mind.

As you have found (and DanS rightly says), if you go to any Ferrari dealer they can only see recalls carried out and the work they have done. If you want to try and establish the service history your best bet is to start with the supplying dealer and work forwards from there. If you don't know the supplying dealer then any UK dealer will probably be able to tell you or, assuming it is on standard UK plates (i.e. not a private reg) then you can have a pretty good stab from that. PM me for more info also I may have some history if you have the reg or chassis number.

Hi guys, sorry for the delayed reply...

Thanks for the help! It has had an inspection at Maranello London, all seems in order with the exception of carbon ceramics and pads worn. I will change these when required but service history is my main priority as I know how much this can reduce the value of a car!

Jonathan, thanks for the offer! I'll PM you now with the details.

Pads are one thing but rotors are another! I'm no expert in the 599, but replacing the disks is EXPENSIVE. Best understand fully what that means before signing the sales contract.

Of all the narcissists I know, I love me the most.

New ceramic discs will not be cheap. Might want to get a quote first.

No, not cheap at all unfortunately. Maranello quoted 14k (pads and discs inc VAT) but I've managed to source the entire job for 7k (inc VAT). However, this was reflected in the price (as well as the lack of service history). Just need to source it!
