Ferrari California rip off

Is the Ferrari California worth the price, isn't it pretty much the same as a Maserati gran Turismo, I've looked online line and Californias are usually around 200k, when a Maserati with the same miles is around 150k

Owners love them, so it is your call. Performance is definitely superior to the Maser and the 2013 gets boosted hp and torque and an available handling package.

Any convertible hard top Masers?

How about mc stradale

I read Maserati mc stradale Novitec trIdente has closer/ better performance
It goes 205 mph, Cali goes 193
Same 0-60 time 3.9 secs
Maserati. The fastest cars in the world. The highest speed. Top rated maximum speed of supercars.. Number 3

There are faster cars out there than Ferraris, for less money (Porsche Turbo anyone?) but at the end of the day, they don't carry a donkey on the front.

The Maser shares some components with the Cali, as I do with with George Clooney, but they are just assembled in a different way.

You can toss a Novitec on a Cali too and it's even faster along with a stronger transmission.

Comparing a stock car to an aftermarket tuner is silly. The California is quicker than just about all the stock Maseratis, the 2013 even more so.

What was the purpose of this thread? California rip off is not the way to make friends with California owners.

The maser doesn't have a flat crank V8. Maybe that doesn't matter to some people but that clinches it for me.

No, and it does not have a dry sump lubrication system either. Reasons why it is lower priced than other Ferraris.

FutureFerrariDriver, it appears from your user name you've already made up your mind but may not have driven them both on the same day. That is a must do! The curb weight and interior features alone may end your day with a deposit on a California and a used Turismo to drive while you await delivery. Always a great car for the Mrs. after you take delivery.

You guys must be speaking about the US version of the MC Stradale as my European MC Stradale has a flat crank v8 built in the same factory as any Ferrari v8 and the gearbox is the single clutch unit from the 599 which shifts in 60ms in Race mode and as its from the 599 it's very robust too, such a pity you guys dont get this brilliant Supercar.

BTW, I owned my 2010 Cali for a mere 7 weeks as it was not a car I bonded with at all and IMO my MC Stradale is a better sorted drivers car

Peter- Sounds like a real hot rod.

Incidentally, all the Maserati engines, through 2014 at least, are built at Maranello. Sounds like all the future Maseratis beginning around the same time will have turbocharged engines, including a new turbocharged V6 that will first go into the new smaller, complementary model of the QP. Funny that this happens around the same time F1 goes to turbocharged V6s. Looks like the new V8 will be well north of 500 hp and should have equivalent torque. Tough to compete with the M-B and BMW turbo V8s otherwise.

Taz - it is a real hotrod, fantastic drivers tool...never fails to put a smile on my face or on others, especially when they hear her!

The Masers on a different planet over here to any MB or BMW, it's a step up and they're not compared in the same breath....

Owning a California, on the rare occasions I get to drive it, when my wife isn't buzzing around in it.
I must say its a good car, but not an out and out white knuckle ride like a 458, or a smooth V12 like the FF, but its a good car. really in my mind it has no direct competition. and stands on its own as a great car, and a good looking car also. If not slightly feminine.

Cars
458 coupe normale, California T, Speciale A, 458 GT3, FF Maserati Ghibli diesel!
on way in 2015: La F, and 488, 2016 488 spider

Paul thank you for the observation and I agree on the "slightly feminine" part.

drove a friends recently and I will admit that although not a fan of the model I was left impressed with the way it communicates with the driver.
Not as involved maybe as the other models but certainly a Ferrari in its feel and manners.

I agree with Peter and others about the Cali. You have to drive it to appreciate how good of a car it is. And dare I say a Ferrari daily driver? After all it starts out in Auto and has a cupholder. Two years ago my neighbor was ready to buy a Maser Gran Turismo, but I talked her out of it. My reasoning was that maybe other than Astons there are not too many luxury cars that depreciate faster than a Maser. And if she bought the Cali she would have a better car [and a Ferrari no-less] that would not drop like a stone in value. She took my advice. She thanked me by giving me the spare key to drive it!
