Looks like a Ferrari 500 Formula 2 car from the 50s with a Lampredi 2 liter, 4 cylinder engine (500 x 4 = 2000 cc).

Right on, Taz; 1953 F2 which immediately says to me: Alberto Ascari. In the 1952 and 53 seasons there were 17 world championship G.P. races. Ascari and Ferrari were on pole 11 times, set fastest lap 10 times and won 11 races.

One thing that strikes me immediately is that it seems much shorter than a genuine Ferrari 212 F2 that I have seen in action many times, and which is closely related but with a Colombo engine. First pic is mine, second credit unknown.

Onno- That 2 liter four cylinder was much smaller than the 2.54 liter V12.

A little different, but, here's some photos I took at the Indy 500 museum a few years ago.

Ferrari V12 type-375, 4 entered in the 1952 Indy 500.

The original post is of a 1953 Ferrari 500 F2 Bj. The first photo is a model of the same car.

As for the 4 Indy 500 Ferrari's, Ascari's car number 12 (in the photos above) is owned locally, and was at the Rockville Car Show in October 2011. The second photo is from KVisser...

Is the model a CMC or Exoto one? Seems like the former one to me.
