328 lens protection .062 thick!!!

I just had a protective film put on my 328 driving light lenses. I went with this company because he had a .062 thick film that should offer the best protection.

I think the same template will fit the TR?

They can install them or ship them if you are not local.

Since the lenses are imposible to replace if you get a rock chip this is good insurance. Most of the films I've seen others use is not as thick.

Are those the glass ones or the plastic copies?

From what I've seen, they are incredibly high-quality plastic-like reproductions that are nearly indistinguishable from original, once installed.

Sounds like it's still worth protecting the originals with some cheap film. This stuff he used is thick enough and rubbery so I'm guessing it would take a pretty good sized rock with this film on. There were some other threads I read about this problem so when I found this I figured I'd post it. I thought the TR was the same and told him they were. I'll make sure he knows the TR is different and that he needs a different template in his computer. He has a fancy plotter with a blade on it to cut the pieces.

Certainly worth applying the film. Have been doing it for some time to my and my clients cars.

But it is great that we no longer have to lose sleep at night over a broken lens.

Also did it to my motorcycle headlights for the upcoming Alaska trip. I'll see how good that stuff works.

Did you use the .062" or something thinner? I read some guys where using two layers of the 12 mil.

.5 micron seems to thin to believe. A piece of paper is about 100 microns thick if I did my math correct?

The stuff they used on mine is about 1.5 mm thick. Probably overkill but told them I wanted max protection.
