Be careful what you wish for. Went to local track with temps near 90F and bright sun. Lack of roof very helpful with forced-air driver cooling on track, but the sun/heat really had the track surface and tire adhesion extremely excellent!
Problem was the resulting higher rpm's meant higher gas consumption!
Weather permitting, figure on a big gas bill (always the hallmark of a good time) at Road America.
Oh, Wayne Obry says he has a very iconic Ferrari coming to the concours.
Best.

Considering the cars that Wayne takes care of what he brings to the concours could be real interesting.

Turned the F-40 in to the guys at Continental Auto Sports for tech check/ final go-over/ detailing for FCA 2013 at Road America.
2 or 3 F-40's, a 288GTO, an Enzo... but, so far, don't have an F-50...
Less than two weeks to go!

OK guys, the airplane tickets have been bought, the hotel reservations made, the shipping arrangements for TLBC have been finalized and the FCA registration has been filed. I am really looking forward to getting back on the track at Road America, that is, if Dan will allow this old guy back on the track. After all my last driver's school was the RRDC Advanced Drivers Clinic at Bridgehampton in July 1964. Janet Guthrie was one of my fellow students and my instructors included Walt Hansgen, Mark Donohue and Ed Hugus.

Best regards,

Robert

I definitely want to hear about those instructors. Maybe Admiral should be part of the Wednesday session with Dick Fritz, et al.

Don't fail to wander around the paddock area; most of the Challenge racers did not enter their cars in the Concours, nor did one 333SP driver.
Still looking for an F-50 for the event.
"Nice"? Never. What, never? Welll.... hardly ever.

You going to drive the 333 into town for the display after the concours? That ought to be a real fun sight.

For those with a spouse that may have limits on how much "car" they can suffer there is a nice spouse program available.

Sounds like a whole lot of fun ! Lake Elkhart ...never heard of it before nor aware where on earth the place is. Looks like Wisconsin...

Well, the closest thing I have with Wisconsin is my early days in school taking inorganic chemistry and the professor, in front of the class, said ...Jimmy, you have a Wisconsin accent !

You all have fun boys (and ladies).

w/ smiles

Elkhart Lake is a small resort village north of Milwaukee by an hour or so. 3 hours from Chicago.

Road America is historically significant as the first purpose built road course in the US. Elkhart Lake (pre-Road America) and Road America have both played major roles in the history of Ferrari in North America through the 1950s and early 1960s. Road America is still the same track layout throughout all the decades.

Intend to have a good time!

Hello, all: I am an FCA Life Member since 1978 when I bought my first Ferrari. I reserved a two-bedroom suite at the Osthoff Resort Hotel, the meeting hotel, arriving this Wednesday afternoon, leaving Sunday. Friend who was to take the second room has a conflict and can't attend. So we're looking for a congenial (!) FCA member who would like to share the suite and the cost. Osthoff advises that each BR has its own bathroom. Contact me by private message.
