Tell me if I am wrong about Italian leather.

From what I understand and see, Italian leather is really not dyed. It's actually a painted dye on the leather. It's the same with the Lamborghinis. So that is the reason why people have their seats dyed with very little miles. The seats end up cracking easier and show more wear than a normal car with leather. I am sure this probobly applies to the early model Ferraris and Lambos. But anyone else hear this? I am sure the late model ferraris have gone more of a traditional route of leather dying. If you ever notice the leather in the early ferraris and lambos does look like paint and very stiff to the touch. Not soft and supple like other american cars.
