Is it possible to tamper with the odometer?

Hi Guys,
I've been looking at a couple of nice 360CS. However, I am a bit nervous on whether it is possible for the odometer to be tampered with, in an attempt to reduce/reset the actual miles??
Thanks a bunch

Anything is possible, but on the 360 I don't think it is very easy to tamper with the odometer. If you are buying from a reputable dealer and run a carfax on the vehicle, I wouldn't even worry about odometer tampering.

Tks Pete and Andrew. I am planning to buy from an owner so I wasn't sure. The first time I saw the odometer, it showed ~900miles, then the second time it showed ~400miles. Or that's a trip odometer and not the cumulative miles? Does a 360CS odometer have the feature which can switch between Trip vs. Total Cumulative miles??

What is Carfax by the way? I don't think we have that system here in Thailand.

Due your due diligence and if possible call previous owners and talk about how they liked the car, drove it where, how many times a year and so on that can help lead to to a good idea about mileage.

go underneath the car and check the cable connection that runs from the dash into the front left axle. if the connectors are dirty then that means it has not been tampered with, if you notice a new shiny part, or if it looks like its been adjusted, then it may have been tampered with.

otherwise, exercise due diligence in talking to previous owners. get a list from the dealer, he should supply with the previous owners.
