Lancia revival

The Fiat group esentially has the Fiat, Alfa-Romeo, Maserati and Ferrari brands being commercialised at present. They also own the Lancia brand (as far as I know).

I have wondered whether or not they will revive the Lancia name. It would be awesome to have a modern version of the Integrale or Monte Carlo. Also, whereas the 159 just loses out to the 3 Series or C Class, a Lancia branded car would have more prestige than these.

I really hope they do revive it at some stage.

Lancia I think is still sold in Italy as a premium brand.

I did read something possibly about reviving the brand in the UK

I seem to remember that Lancia always struggled against BMW/Audi/MB/Volvo/Saab ...etc in the executive market as they suffered terrible depreciation and reliability issues.
True they made some classic sports and rally cars in the past, but their run of the mill executive sports cars were never a match for the Germans and Swedes, which is why I believe they pulled out of most European and worldwide markets.
It would be nice to see them return, but only if they build beautiful sports cars and coupes (Stratos, Integrale, Montreal). They are never going to compete in the compact executive class, the 3 series, A4 and C-class have got that well and truly sown up, every company rep dreams of having a BMW 318d as a status symbol. If I had to have that sort of car, I'd go for the Audi A4 2.0TDi S-Line.

Fiat does still sell Lancia's in a number of European markets: The current line up has four models but they are not much more than rebagded Fiats. Last year they did announce more aggressive plans to revite the brand but so far not much has happened (I think the article was in the June issue of Octane). In terms of priorities, I am sure Fiat is more focused on getting Maserati and Alfa right and then will worry about what to do with Lancia.

they still sell Lancia's here, and it is a premium brand over Fiat, altough the dealer network is rubbish here
they are still busy putting up a better dealer network for Fiat here

personally i love the the Thesis, but they are under-appreciated cars, so no good value for money and that's the biggest problem since the cars are just GREAT
