SPorts Exhaust

I am considering fitting a sports exhaust to my 328 at some point. Any advice would be appreciated. My local Ferrari specialist reccomends a Bell system above anything else. About 1000 fitted. The only other make I am aware of is Tubi. Was wondering if price really does reflect quality in this case ??

I don't know much about exhausts on a 328, but many users here do recommend Tubis for most of the newer models.

Do a thorough search, there are quite a few exhaust manufacturers out there. Capristo, Tubi, X-host, Stebro, Time-valve, Kreisseigge, and some others I can't think of...and I'm sure my spelling is faulty on some of the names mentioned. Do a search on ebay and google and you should get quite a bit of information.

I've seen Ferrari's advertised for sale and one of the selling points is that it has a Tubi exhaust. It seems to inflate the value of the car. The other ads just say, "aftermarket exhaust".

Would I buy a Tubi? I don't know but I'd sure shop around to all the brands and look for the best value. I wish Borla would start making an exhaust for the 308/328 again. That is a fine exhaust. I've got one on my Jeep and it sounds awesome, takes an off-road beating and still looks like new after 10 years.

I had a Tubi on my 550 and it was loud all the time. My Testarossa has a Bell and at motorway speeds it's more comfortable but when you accelerate it's got a great sound. It depends if you want the soundtrack all the time or just on the higher rev range. If your local is The Ferrari Centre at Maidstone which I'm guesssing it is as you live in Ashord, you can trust their advice, speak to Roger. As far as I know the quality's the same with Bell and Tubi

I just received my Capristo exhaust system. As a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast and 10 year technician, I've installed litterally hundreds of 2 and 4 stroke exaust systems. Comparring the Capristo system to companies like FMF, Borla, Yoshimura, Supertrapp, and many more, the Capristo is not at that level of quality. I feel like a sucker. $4200 . No, I am a sucker . It makes me want to get into building Ferrari exhaust. I imagine the profits are in the 400-500% range, easily.

It is not installed yet, I'm only judging it on build quality alone. I'm not saying it is junk, it is just way overpriced. The finish is pretty good though. The sound and performance may make up for it's quality, and it doesn't really matter, because the other systems available for my model are not much cheaper, and lets face it, OEM exhaust systems leave much to be desired.

With that said, If you could hear the exhaust before you purchased it would be the way to go. I suspect that most Ferrari exhaust are not worth there asking price, so at least, getting a good sound will increase your satisfaction. That's not an very educated assumption, because I have only inspected one aftermarket Ferrari system, it is just my current conclusion.

Perhaps I'm being a boring old fart, but I have the standard exhaust on my 328 and have no plans to change it. It sounds pretty good to me

I'm happy with the stock exhaust on my 308GTBi, but can I get some chrome tips for it? The ones on there now are welded on. Dennis

You could cut them off. Borla has whole line of quality tips. However, I can't recommend anyone destroy a genuine Ferrari part in the sake of vanity. Enzo would turn over in his grave.

The other alternative is removing the exhaust and having it plated. A reputable chroming and plating shop would have no problem just dipping the tips, or go all the way and chrome the whole thing. The latter would be much more money considering the prep time.

Thanks guys for advice. Kent High Performance have in fact reccoemnded a Bell system. I heard one they had in for a service. Not too loud and in ya face but a little throatier than the standard one!!

No I won't destroy the original, just wait until it needs replacing, do they last long? I mean it's already 25 years, (20K miles) and it still seems solid! Dennis
