Selling the 911, which Ferrari should I choose?

Hello everyone,

This is my first post and hopefully you guys will be able to help me out 8) .

Looks like I will be selling my Porsche 911 any day now, and that means I'm one step closer to realizing the dream of a Ferrari.
Unfortunately, budget constraints will limit me to either a 308, a 328 or a Mondial - and my Q is:
which one should I go for?
The car will be used on sunny days only, and maybe on an occational track day or two each year (but just for fun :green: ).
My Q relates to reliability of these cars, handling, availability of parts (original or non-original), known issues with different models, how well they hold their value, etc, etc.

The Porsche has been a very reliable car (I pretend to forget the two times when she left me stranded on the roadside  ...), so I don't want to make compromises in that area.

Fire away - I'm curious to hear your answers!

at this point i dont think the 308 will drop in value at all(unless you really pile miles on) so a low mile 308 might be your best bet * i mean low km 308* :green:

My opinion is not worth much, since I have not owned any of them, nor do I have high technical knowledge. Having said that I think newer Ferraris are more reliable than older ones, so that would leave you with either a 328 or a Mondial T. But the 308 is the more classic original one.

a Mondial is underrated, so probably more Ferrari for less Swedisch Crones :-)

On sheer looks, I would go for

1) original carb 308 GTB
2) 328 GTS
3) Mondial T cabriolet
4) 328 GTB
5) 308 GTS
6) Other Mondials

Overhere the most affordable Ferraris (at least purchasing prices) are the 308 GT4 and the 400 models. Ever considered that ?

I think the 308 GT4 is the best to begin with, at least that is what I decided for myself: goal is to get one within 10 years from now, but you never know what is going to happen :-?

-308 GTSi (or a GTBi), or a Mondial 8
-308 GTS/B QV, or a Mondial QV

Any of these cars will be reasonably priced and offer the best reliability. The earlier two-valve injected cars are slower but still good fun.

I own a 308 GT4 and is probably better than any of the above, but are more involved in respect to maintenance and reliability.

There are many discussions on this site in both "Ferrari discussion" and "Tech Q&A" about all of these cars - reliability, parts avaliablity/compatability, owner's impressions, etc... Read up!
