That token drunk/drugged guy

My wife Lina and I just went out for a 50k night drive in our 16M, which I had beautifully cleaned during the day. 30 odd celsius (in the 90s F). Balmy but with a cool change approaching. Storm clouds starting to brew in the night time sky. We had are own race to blast away some kilometres before the summer storm hit.

My only mods are unplugged exhaust valves, taped up intakes and Stef's brilliant light package. The car was electric to drive, it really sang. Screamed up though the gears. Growled, sparked and burbled on the way down. I'm not a scientist but I remember how sounds and colours are amplified in the low just before a storm.

One reason why I love my car is both the feeling of driving and esp the noises that it makes when driving slow. Cruising down a crowded street the whole environment becomes an instant F1 pit lane. People down here love these cars - smiles all round.

As I was running out of fuel/petrol/gas (don't you just love this global forum?) I pulled into a petrol station. Got out of the car, started to fill up and then he came. This guy with a huge cup of coke, ran up to my 'pride and joy', spilling his coke, spitting as he tried to ecstatically speak about how much he loved THIS CAR. Sticky fingers going everywhere. I don't know what he was on but he was having a really great time. Realising I was getting quickly out of my depth, I enthusiastically returned his conversation, answering his split second questions as I also tried to complete the refuelling process, so that I could physically supervise him. I was aware that he could turn nasty at any stage.

In a split second my (certainly this time) better half said something along the lines of "Hey man, I love you looking at my car but please don't touch it and ditch that bucket of coke". He responding perfectly to this and whilst he ran away to put down his coke, I had time to finish filling up, Lina went to pay and I went around the side of the car to meet the guy. What followed was less than a minute or so of 'hyped up drug talk' before Lina returned, we said 'see ya later' and we were safely on our way.

Two years earlier I was driving a brand new 458 coupe (unfortunately not mine) when I saw a maniac remonstrating loudly and hitting a traffic light with a heavy piece of wood. I was stationary about 20 car lengths away, waiting for the lights to turn green. Then he saw the Italia and suddenly decided to make it his object of his rage. He started running towards me brandishing his weapon and screaming profanities. I shit myself but luckily not literally! When he was 10 cars away the lights turned green, the traffic slowly began moving and he was unable to move into the lane I was in.

Have anybody else had any interesting experiences?

David.

David, shortly after we bought our a spider, we came down an off ramp to a red light. A homeless guy was standing at the corner with his cardboard sign asking for handouts. Within about ten seconds, he went from asking for change to full-blown rage. Once he started to come towards us, I had no choice but to run the light. Luckily, there was no oncoming traffic. It's the only negative experience i've ever had (in any car).

Of all the narcissists I know, I love me the most.

David and David, compared to your encounters, mine is a boring life.

Seriously, that is just awful. The good is that women are much more no nonsense under duress circumstances as such. Great choice, David.

The US David, are you sure that was not Wetpet dressed in disguise out to get you ?

Stay safe.

I thought of that too Jimmy, but Ed would have got him with a .50.

David.

P.S. Your Saturday night is obviously going as well as mine is Jimmy. Oh, where did those younger years go?

David, if my recollection is accurate, my younger years were even more dull because I was dirt poor, studying and working, all in one.

In retrospect that gene got me into far more problems than I would like to admit to. Better off without it. Life is much safer and calmer nowadays. Besides I get to exchange thoughts with you Jimmy.

LOL. True that. I'm a total woos!

Make sure your next car Ed has the 'stiletto proof' bodywork option. Better still, how about a retractable pole coming out of the roof, purely for safety reasons, of course?

Sorry to hear about your experiences. So far, it's been all good for me. Occasionally I get a negative reaction but nothing like you describe.

Not racist at all, but think you should seriously start eating at different restaurants, as sushi shouldn't smell or longer that long, gadzooks!!!!

That token drunk/drugged guy

David, I reread your entertaining post and this part made my day..."and Lina went to pay."

I appreciate independent women. 😎
