Night driving on French, Italian and Spanish motorways can mean danger. I've had two incidents in France, but luckily I managed to create enough distance before arriving at the pay booth. I got away before the aggressors caught up at the pay booth. More and more pay booths are unmanned at night time, making you a sitting duck. Beware and limit your motorway driving to daytime!

Great advice Capo, one more reason to have toll tags in your vehicle & drive through the 30kph lanes.

I will look into toll tags now. I'm not sure how it works, it seems there are many different tags only for Spain. I would like one for the whole country, or better still, one for Italy, Spain and France.

I think my aggressors had vandalism in mind and perhaps robbery of loose loot. If you drive a less opulent car, they will steal the whole car, strip you of your mobile phone and leave you communication-less to gain escape time. This means we are safer from car theft in our Ferraris, as they would be easily spotted by police and lots of bystander witnesses along the escape road. If somebody steals my car, I would like a slow acting sleeping gas being released into the cockpit. Also, onboard surveillance cameras would be nice, so you can identify he/she who keys it.

Capo, emailed a weblink on where to get your European toll tags. We've used this company & the tags for years.

Best of luck

Countries, their tolls and more

Best of luck
Thank you so much, Peter!!

Safety alone is enough reason to get toll tags for most countries, not to speak of the convenience. I'm getting my toll tags ASAP!

The malfunctioning assimilation after the fall of the iron curtain, has changed Europe forever. It's wonderful to see millions of people freed from communism. It's sad to see the former communist leaders on all hierarchical levels, continuing to exercise the same order - only, in our system, such order is called organised crime. I continuously travel much in particularly Western Europe. I have seen the change and it is a sad sight.

That said, taking the proper precautions, Europe is still a great place to enjoy in a beautiful sports car!

Capo - Id also advise you carry an extendable baton, freely available, as is pepper spray from most French stores, keep it in your door pocket 👍

If you get pepper spray & are coming my way soon please get one for me, a small can will do nicely 😎

Nearly wet myself! So, so funny Ed.

David.

Doug I'd love to get some spray too but they would lock me up here. Even if it got through and I used it, the courts would rule in the assailant's favour and I'd get my arse sued off. Extreme force with a deadly weapon etc. Best I just cop the beating mate.

Stevo - you guys just need to carry around some of your countries deadly snakes & spiders & be ready to throw one at your assailant, job done!

Are you fn joking mate! That'd also incur cruelty to animal charges. Just see it on the news, 'Rich Ferrari driver tortures protected species.'

Nice try but I'll just have to cop the beating. Just the stupid way it is here. If a druggie invades your house you end up having to pay for his drug rehab program.

Garage
Fueling up at one point in my life was as Innocent as getting ice cream, alas now all I do is keep a watchful eye on any and all ppl near by the pumps or station.

99% of the time I will get the "nice car dude" or "I bet thats expensive, good for you" usuale bable and all is great, but that pesky 1% person is lurking out there some where, they will make my refiling into Formula 1 pit stop .

Luckily I'm 6'1" 230lbs, all I usually have to do is give them the glance of "don't [email protected] with the car" and so far it's worked, but I'm sure that day will come when my passion for my autos will unleash on the moron who will cross the line.
