A perfect afternoon

Weather conditions this saturday allowed me to excercise all 3 in one afternoon....what a joy !

First "D", as usual 15 minutes below 2.5 rpm's to warm up, wooden steering wheel and leather smell in hands and nose followed by by 3-5 rpm's roaaaaar's, accompanied by a whiff of the "oh so loved" fuel smell thru both opened window when throttle pushed...unreplacable in it's own sytle.

Second "F"..1 month no used, one push to the starter knob and "wush" it goes. 2 minutes at idle, then 5 minutes at 2-2.5 rpm's, warms up much faster...then up to 4'rpm's for another 5 minutes and...we fly together to the horizon...open barchetta configuration...breeze...carbon...rattling of chain...followed by singing V12 up to 7' ...just a leather steering wheel in my hands...no knobs or else to deviate the attention away.... simple, sharp, some fast gearchanges in "klick/klack" style inbetween.....unreplacable in it's own style.

Thirdly "S"...pushing starting knob...whoaaaammmmmmmmm....no waiting..on the road directly 5' minutes and water is 90, oil 70, the fastest to warm up. My wife joins me this time..."oh how comfortable these seats are"...."oh the car is really quiet"...(in 6th gear at 2.5' rpm's) hmmm I have to change that Impression immediately by slashing 3 gears down and pedal to the metal.....answer: "Stop it....stop it !!" Ok, ok,....you know....it's the caracter of the Scud ;-) !

Home, clean....done !

Happy weekend to all of you !

212- Daytonas take forever to warm up, not helped by the 16 liters of oil in thedry sump. When I picked mine up in Houston and drove her to Clovis, NM in the winter, I thought the oil temp gauge was inop. Finally got her to reach 70 C, but it took some heavy application of throttle. Just cruising along at 80 mph or so, the needle stayed on the peg.

Just like my old 512BB. It rarely if ever moved off the peg.
