Loheac a little gem

Spent the day in Loheac yesterday. A car-crazy little French town in the middle of nowhere! Superb car museum, rallycross circuit, track and two go-cart tracks. Enjoyed a great pizza in a little restaurant adorned with car memoribilia.

The car musuem has, amongst others, a superb collection of F1 cars, Group B rally cars, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Porsche etc. Quite possibly the finest collection of Alpines and Peugeots in the world.

At the rallycross track, spotted this Citroen being driven by a chap, in green beanie, that seemed quite handy at the helm. Went by the name of Solberg supported by eight mechanics and a laptop...

A few more gems from the museum including 308 GTB Michelotto, the inspiration for the Michalone...

Very cool, David. I could live there! Did you take the 550 or the 997?

At the moment there is a Martini Racing exhibition in the Louwman museum. Some spectacular racing machines there, Delta S4 and 037 like above but also the Moby Dicks, 917's and many more. Very cool to see.

Bet that is the only polyester 308 in the world. Translations are funny things.

A few more pictures. The first shows the incredible amphibian car collection. Part of the Alpine collection. A 1936 Peugeot with retractable hardtop. Racing Ferraris with Lambo boat surging through from the Lambo side of the fence...

BMW 2002 Ti just like my Dad had when I was small. The music from those twin carbs. No wonder I loved the music from the Michalone 308 GTB! 250 gt with Bimbo next to it. Lambo 350 and Islero with early Uracco. Amazing collection in this tiny town in a lovely part of France in the middle of nowhere.
