360 modena/f430

Hi guys, its me again.

I've had a change of heart.

My favourite car used to be a 308, but I have Recently seen an F430, and it struck something in me... I now want one instead of a 308.

But I couldn't decide between an f430 and a 360 modena... They are pretty much the same except for a few spec differences.

Help me decide guys... I will set my self to buy this car, and never sell it ever. Whats one is better, what one is worth the money more? what is more fun to drive, what oen is more reliable? etc

Cheers

From the position of never having driven any of them, so therefore fully qualified to give an opinion , I would say without any hesitation, the 308

Best wishes, John

Get a good 308 before it costs more. There is plenty of time to get a Modena further on.

Salve,

The good news: I'm the pilot

Nicholas- Huge differences between the powertrains on the 360 and F430. If you go to ferraridatabase.com, you can download all kinds of free Ferrari tech data and learn about all those differences.

430 is the way to go

I went from a 03 360 to 05 430 at a cost of 45K more. Big difference but also a completely different car.

I think the 360 looks better on the outside than the 430 but that's about it. The 430 is more powerful, smoother refined car. It also looks and feels like a luxury car whereas the 360 feels bare bones inside especially with the aluminum trim pieces. I have diamond stitched leather behind the seats and on the headliner which really sets the car apart from others with more plain interiors.

The F1 on 430 is very smooth and fast - not so on the 360 which can be very jerky in traffic. Not sure but feels I can shift faster than 360 but definitely not compared to a 430. The 430 is very much louder and really screams when you down shift - the 360 is pretty quiet and you really have to flog it to get it screaming. The 430 also feels larger and lower inside - I think 360 is going to be a problem for taller drivers as my head almost hit the roof.

No belts on the 430 so less maintenance. I have carbon ceramic brakes which have minimal dust; I had a hard time keeping the wheels clean on my 360. This is really nice for challenge wheels which have a lot of nooks and crannies. They should last the life of the car - originally 5 figure option but less so on a used market.

I really think the extra money is worth it. The delta could be even less as I bought one of the least expensive 360 and paid top dollar for my 430. So definitely 430 in my opinion.

I'll add an alternative perspective. I've owned my 360 for 7+ years. About 3 yrs ago I started to consider trading it for a 430. I've driven plenty of 430s and there is no doubt it is a faster more developed car, it is, after all, an evolution of the 360. Looks are personal and I prefer the curves of the 360 but that's very subjective.

After a lot of thought I came to the conclusion that I could have a 360 plus a 308 for the same cost of a good 430. And so that's exactly what I did, bought my 308 GT4 and never looked back.

If you have the budget for a 430, a 360/308 combo is well worth considering and will provide you with 2 very different but equally enjoyable F car experiences.
