Based on FML and Sheehan's latest article in Forza, for a car with 33K that's a bit high.

Agree. Both the 550 and the 612 are incredibly priced now.
Current range for the 612 is $85-100

However, something seems odd when a 12cyl 550 is lower than an 8cyl 360?

Richard was telling me it's very hard to find a good 550. He said people are holding on to them. Both are great cars.

That seems only one factor in the story.
Scanning the results of the Arizona auctions, a 360 Spider sold for $110K.
Yet a mint 550 may not crack $80K

Good clean well maintained cars are getting tough. It is why that stats are where they are. Same is true for many cars. The junk, crashed, used up cars drive the average down and no one looks past the price range average. Hence the people saying stuff like $70g's for a TR? you're A FOOL!
I see them every day for 40.

550 and 456 are getting a big dose of that right now. What the price shoppers don't get is there is not enough money in the world to make a good car out of one of the bottom priced cars.

I've been telling people for close to 30 years now "the cheapest is the best one you can find".

The economy of stupidity cannot override that simple truth.

Looks a bit different here in the UK. Not many auction sales or verifiable dealer / private sales, but I believe the base price for a decent 550 is now low 50Ks ($83K), up from floor of mid-40Ks ($66K) a year or two back. Very low mileage (<20K miles) 550s seem to be going for up to 80K, i.e. c. $130K - some at this level are selling within a few weeks, so probably at / close to the asking. Even high milers (>90K miles) are asking 45K ($75K).

Typical of the mid-range, this 55K miles car is on offer at a shade under 60K ($100K), despite it being a left hooker in a right hook market.

Dick Lovett - Ferrari 550 Maranello - £58990

So I believe it is reasonable to say that that 550 actual sale prices range from 40K ($65K) to 80K ($130K).

360 spiders currently on offer from 38K ($63K)with - 60K+ miles to 65K ($108K) for low milers. Here is one with only 1,700 miles that could be yours for 60K ($100K), maybe less.

Oakfields : Vehicle Detail

So that IMO puts actual sale prices in the range 35K ($58K) to 60K ($100K)

My guess is that 360s have a shade further to fall, or at least will stay static for a while if they have hit their floor, but 550s are already on the way up and will increase from here on, but slowly (although this may be wishful thinking on my part )

Best wishes, John

John- In the UK, there were about 2000 RHD 360s (Modenas and Spiders) sold and only 457 550s, so stands to reason the latter would be harder to find and dearer. Only 251 575Ms, too.

Quite a few UK V12s have been exported to Australia and other markets, further depleting the supply.
