Switzerland is beautiful....

Enjoyed a marvelous "spring" skiing day today and thought I want to share a picture or 2 of the absolute cloudless Situation up there......and thought...maybe we should do once a swiss skiing "fled-ski" for 1 or 2 days for those interested....?!

I do not want to offend anybody because I really like NYC but....That reminds me of an old story, when I used to live in L.A. in the very early '80s. My landlord answered my question if he's been in NYC in a special way: "Come with me" he said, "I can visit New York every day"....he went to the bath room, opened the toilet and said to me: "If you look down here...you can see NYC....."

It was deep recession time then and NYC had a very special appeal at that time....something which is lost now or at least different.

Goodness me

Not one emoticon can describe what was my reaction to this picture. Life is beautiful.... so as Switzerland.
I missed a chance to go to Switzerland a few months ago, but by what I was told and by experience of my friends who live there, it is really something else. Landscapes, people, mentality, living standard, ............

Lol. It's improved A LOT since then, but it still retains some of its "charm" for sure.

212- Very pretty. Seems like spring will never come, but that is good for the skiing.

Terry, we have spring here, temperature is atm between 10-18 degrees Celsius at mormal altitude. However the Skiresort around Zermatt brings you with the lift on a top of 12'700 feets (3880 meters). So you always have lots of snow and this area is a summer skiing Resort as well.

Interestingly to add, the skiresort crosses over the Swiss / Italian borderline. As I know a older italian couple which run a nice Chalet Hotel with a great Terrazza-kitchen at the hills in Cervinia (the slope passes right by the "terrazza"), we start the day skiing in Zermatt, cross the border for a nice lunch on the terrazza, and recross the border again in the afternoon to enjoy the sun on the westhills above Zermatt. So even a "Fledski" would pay some Kind of Tribute to our italian manufacturer ;-)

Thank you. However, we are "bashed" atm by the europeans after the result of a direct democratical peoples vote to limit the Immigration of new inflows into Switzerland to a probably more sustainable level. (Switzerland has the highest percentage of foreigners in all eurosean countries at about 26% of all habitants, and we need the inflow and presence of them dearly, it is part of our little success story so far).

I also love NYC. It's been 8 years since I've been, need to go back. Hard to top last time though: saw Yo-Yo Ma in Carnegie Hall, saw David Gilmour in the Radio City Music Hall, rented a car on 42nd Street and drove through Manhattan to Jersey (cue The Sopranos music...), eventually to Nazareth where I picked up the acoustic guitar I had custom-made for me at the Martin factory. What an awesome trip that was. We even had snow on Empire State, in April. Every day, when I pick up my D-42, I remember that trip.

Regarding a FLEDSKI, I would be in if I had any experience skiing.... Regrettably one of the few things I haven't found time for.

Fabio - Rome is my favourite city. Together with my own home town of Amsterdam, of course. I haven't been sightseeing in Rome since 1996. About time I get back there!!! But I did have a wonderful moment on my 40th birthday in 2010, as I drove into Rome in my 330GTC and had a chat with Luca di M. on the Ponte Sant' Angelo.

Sorry for the hijack, but wonderful memories.

Would be keen for a FLEDski! This past February in Morzine I managed the blue slopes in a ragged fashion and even ventured onto a red slope for a short time. My attempt at off piste skiiing was not an overwhelming success. If FLEDski could accomodate blue slopes, I am in!

As for NYC, one of my favourite places of all. Last time went to see Motown the Musical on Broadway followed by burgers at the Hardrock on Times Square.
