Incident at 24 hours of Daytona 2014

Hi all,
last sunday at 24 hours of Daytona was an incident between 458 of Matteo Malucelli and Corvette of Memo Gidley.
The incident was scary, but for lucky the pilots are not serious
Matteo today come back in Italy but Gidley is in Hospital because he was operated at one arm and one leg, we hope good for they ....
Matteo Malucelli is the son of my Ferrari dealer, I phoned the father, just now, and he is coming to Venice for pick up Matteo when will arrive in airport, he told me that Matteo is in good conditions.
We hope also Memo will be in good condition early ....
Unfortunately, races are also that ....

I didn't like seeing that the first time.

Good to hear the news.

Great to hear both are OK, scary incident.

Question: why were there no waved yellows to be seen anywhere? It seems the track officials have some explaining to do.

I asked the same question and was explained to me that when the 458 slowed a yellow at the previous corner came out but the prototype and GT were already past. Once he dove on the GT with direct sun the accident became unavoidable. Scary how fast that can happen.
