328 fog lights light bulbs..

I pulled off the front light / lenses off my 328, and discovered that the light bulbs are ones that i have never seen. Their small bulbs with a square metal jacket petruding from a round metal base, thats held inside the socket by a swiveling wire bracket, The bulb has a power wire thats attached to it with a plastic connector on the other end. I called a couple of parts houses , italian car parts has no clue, GT car parts is getting back to me,,but Dave had no idea, same as T Rutlands, who also has to research it.. If any of you fellows have any suggestions,,that would be cool. Brett

thx

Thanks fellows for helping me out with this. I cant believe how common the H3 bulb is !! The parts houses didnt seem to have a clue . Ive been searching for the H 3 bulb that I would like to replace with, and Ive come up with the 100 W . Halegen H 3 s, since my headlights have been replaced with artic blue bulbs, I wanted to go with a clear quartz halegen H 3 s , The auto parts store only had the 100 watt standard as well as the xenon bulbs , so I ordered the 100 w halegens from amazon,.I hope they work out well..

Going from 55w to 100w? concerned about amperage?
per light going from about 4.5 amps to about 8.3 amps (over 16 amps total from 9 total)
wiring may not like that, fuse box will not like that and light housings may not like the extra heat, that extra heat in housing will kill bulb quicker.

Be careful

Nice, on my headlights the Nightbreakers from Osram similar to Philips Extreme Vision are also H4 for headlight and (H3 for Fogs)- 55W and output like 100W halogens but the light beam reaches far are more bright (white light) than the traditional 100W halogens - more like 150W !!! ~~ LOL

when I drive at night I play now with my low/high beams...I've cleaned out the light contacts and relays and lenses for more effect.

the stuff are amazing ! from OSRAM

I was just speaking with Joel Gorick who owns candle power Inc. and he states that that the new H1 55w fog light bulbs will put out twice the light without any increase in current draw and I just ordered them for my 348. He is also making me replacement bulbs for my headlights, they are modifying new bulbs to base required for 348...no additional current draw.

I'm thinking this would be a great thread to move to the 328 section at some point?

thats great, let me know how they perform, hey what is your name FCBanned4Life ???

I've got Xenon's headlights in my Renault Clio RS which are great but I must admit the Night Breaker Plus headlight globes from OSRAM for my 328 is fantastic, strong white clear light, 55W, no extra heat or more power consumption and they last 50% longer...I know I've said this before.

check the specifications:

jazzed

Today I installed my new PIAA fog light bulbs. I also was successful in figuring out that the fog lights actually have an adjustment up and down for the direction of the beam, and I was able to get both lights to adjust upward for more distance . as well as being level with one another . I also had to massage the brackets behind the light assemblies , they were somehow, not all the way straight, causing the two assemblies to be a little tweaked when mounted. I was absolutely jazzed that I got everything sorted out .Brett

So today I made the attempt to install new headlight bulbs and low and behold the headlight glass does not clear housing and bumper. tried releasing motor arm but rubber stops keep it bucket from raising any higher. Next step remove front bumper to change headlight bulbs. 348 and 355 have same headlight setup.
