Yeah. That used to be semi-common on Euro designed cars (Alfa Duettos are another example), and is a tell-tale sign that it is an earlier production car. US safety regs mandated two mirrors later in production. It extends higher and further out than a normal mirror. This earned them the nickname Flying Mirror.

I wonder why this car (besides the convertible part) would be more interesting then other cars just because MJ's a** sat in it. To me that wouldn't be an incentive to buy it. If he would have owned and cared for it, it might, but then again....

I'm with you. I'd actually want the seat to be changed.

Come on! It's a car not a young boy so MJ could not have cared less about it

I bet the car attracts prebuscesent boys - does it come with the single, white-studded flying glove too?

Ed, just think of it as an alternative to the yellow Diablo VT (wink, wink)

I had a poster of this exact car on my wall when I was a kid, flanked by posters of a 928 and a Daytona.

I'd be a buyer for sure. MJ or not.

This cas has been for sale on EBay for a while and never sold. There is another identical in California that was for sale for less than $50K from the original owner.

"Celebrity" ownership can be a double-edged sword. A few years ago, cars first owned by Jimmy Savile were worth several times the underlying value but now you cannot give them away.

About 20 years ago, I was involved in arranging the sale of a pair of cars with famous first owners: we got about 12 times the underlying value for an Austin first owned by Winston Churchill, but only about 2 times underlying value for a Daimler originally delivered to King George VI.

Best wishes, John

That is really awesome. I'd love to see some pics of them if you have any, especially of the Austin.

Too long ago, I am afraid. The Austin looked just like any other Austin 10, because, of course, it was exactly that. If my memory serves me, I think it went to collector of Churchill memorabilia in Swtzerland.

Best wishes, John
