ENZO - JAPAN TO USA, IS THIS POSSIBLE?

DOES ANY ONE KNOW IF IT IS POSSIBLE TO BING AN ENZO THAT WAS PURCAHSED IN JAPAN TO THE US? ARE THERE DIFFERENT EMISSIONS LAWS? DO YOU NEED TO ALTER THE CAR TO MAKE IT STREET LEGAL? ANY INFO ON THIS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THE ENZO IS RED AND IS A 2004 MODEL.

I suggest you contact Dick Merritt at the Department of Transportation. His phone number is 1-202-366-5300. He should be able to give you an answer. You can also try Amerispec in Danbury Connecticut.

There are different laws but if you are about to spend 1.2 million on a car I don't think it will be an issue. You would be able to convert it if needed but I don't think it will need it.

You can always import it as a "showcar" this is the easiest way.

There are some for sale already in the United States, why go across the Pacific? What is so speacial about it. I just recently returned from Japan and do not recall seeing any for sale.

I'm sure it is possible, but there are Enzo's for sale on a regular basis in the USA. Why get it from Japan if you can get it in your own country? You will have lots of paperwork, the car needs to be converted which always gives problems with regulations etc. If you really want one, try to find one in the USA.

i was researching bringing a skyline gtr over but that is different. since the enzo is alreayd built for american standards, i doubt you will have to crash one when you bring it over. might be different bumpers and such because safety isnt as big in japan as it is in america and their emissions are strict but not as strict as usa i believe. so it will still cost you money. not to mention a good 6k to ship it over in a container. but if your spending that much on a car 6k and another (up to) 20k (probably depending on how different they are.) to legalize it is nothing.

The Enzo is a world car and it's only made in LHD, meaning that it has conformed to almost all the requirements of "all regions". However there are a few things that needs to be done for the American market, like the bumper reflector, etc. So getting it to conform to US spec is simple enough.

But the Warranty for the car will be void as soon as it enters the US. That's the Ferrari company policy and it's clearly stated in every Ferrari owner's manual. I suppose if you can afford the car, you can afford the repairs and maintainance.
