Rush

The other day I saw the movie RUSH. I thought the movie was pretty good, Formula One isnt the best theme on which to make a film, but Ron Howard did a really good job. The cars almost looked real. I never knew there was such a rivalry between Lauda and Hunt. It was a good story and it was done in good taste, unlike that bullshit movie with Sylvester Stallone a long while back . Niki Lauda has always been my hero, and my all time favorite driver. What he did was absolutely amazing and courageous . I hope you all see it at some point, as it would be cool to get your reviews.

Lucca, they did use one of niki's actual f1 cars for selected scenes.

You will find most of the cars used are actual cars from the era.
I do know as my Friend (RIP) was in it playing his father.
Quite odd the last thing I did with him was to go watch the movie.

Yes, he really was very convincing. Hunt not quite so good, but close. Very good movie, though - anyone who hasn't seen it ought not to miss it.

Best wishes, John

My wife Lina and I loved this movie. Knew nothing about it going in. Gripping yarn and well acted. One of the few movies that I was not squirming in my seat to have a rest half way through. That Aussie actor hey made it LOL!

I can't wait to see Rush, not the least reason being because I was in the pits at Monaco in 1976 watching the entire race, pretty much from anywhere I wanted. No credentials, nothing; I simply walked into the pits around 6 AM and no one ever questioned my being there. I had lots of camera equipment so I looked like a pro photographer, but really I was on holiday from my job in Saudi Arabia. Took lots & lots of photos, of course. Truly a once-in-a- lifetime experience!

If you liked RUSH

Then download 1.

1 (2013) - IMDb

Amazon.com: 1: Michael Fassbender, Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, Jackie Stewart: Amazon Instant Video

Real footage, good commentary and the cars, the sound and the drivers are the focus. No actors.

‘Rush’ only hints at race-car driver James Hunt’s exploits | New York Post

excerpt:

"Even in death, James Hunt would not be denied a good time. When he passed away from a heart attack in 1993 at age 45, Hunt’s will stipulated that £5,000 be set aside so that his friends could give him a proper send-off. Loved ones received invitations that read, “It is James’ wish that you get pissed.”

And so they did.

Most Americans have likely never heard of Hunt, the charismatic British Formula One champion whose off-track exploits earned him nearly as much press as those on-track. But that’s set to change Friday with the release of “Rush,” a new movie from director Ron Howard based on Hunt’s life..."

OK, but what's your interest...my experiences (in general) at Monaco, or photos of well-known drivers, etc.at the 1976 race, or the occasional anecdote relating to a weekend in Monaco...on the cheap? Please recall that I really didn't know anyone famous, or be treated to a fabulous weekend on a superyacht (many were there at the time, but sadly no invite for me!) I did have an interesting time trying to find someplace to sleep on Saturday night, but...

I loved the Rush, however, there is a spectacular documentary available on Netflix that detail the rivalry and friendship so to speak, of Niki and James. The had a true mutual respect. I have seen the film 3 times, the documentary twice. I very highly recommend the documentary now on Netflix!
