Mystery Ferrari Pops Up in Patent Office

The good thing with patent photos is that they give you a very close idea of what a car will look like on the road. The bad thing is that's the only piece of information usually offered.

What do you think that these Ferrari patent drawings show? You'll be forgiven to think that it's a variation of the four-seater, all-wheel drive FF or the F12berlinetta just by looking at the front and rear of these models, but after a closer inspection of the car's lines, we believe it is based on the California.

So, is it maybe a one-off special much in the likes of Eric Clapton's SP12 or is this the new California....

It could be the new Cali, I saw pics of some test mules having either the FF's or 458's headlights and on these photos there are lines that indicate a Convertible. And as it can't be a roadster FF nor the "Aperta" version of the F12 I think it's definitely the Cali. It would be time for it. The least I could expect is another, "new" model.

Doubt a new Cali at two seats.
a 'new' Cali concept I expect in two years is a 6-cylinder ala Dino concept ...afterall, F1 going there.

I'm thinking retracting roof as that would have been where the two seats were and customer still wants full trunk space.

Looks too much like the F12/FF to be a new model. Perhaps it's slated to be a special version of the F12.
