Sicily preparation

For Capo and myself, the planed Sicily tour is coming near. As I do not like to rest buried under a cloud of dust and dirt on the old Targa Florio hill roads with the old metal of mine, some ideas about the material I always take on such tours. So far, gladly, I never used any of that, but the first time will come.......! This may give any want-to-be classic car driver a good argument to stay away from such ideas and stick to their modern "no problem" Ferraris!

You take an extra steering wheel?

Interesting list of spares. In addition to your kit, I always carry a generator, water pump, points, distributor cap, and a spool of 14ga wire.

When is the Sicily trip?

Of all the narcissists I know, I love me the most.

No, will not carry a additional steering wheel I have 2 steering wheels, one Nardi and one original leather and change from time to time but never while on a trip. Distributor cap is in too but no waterpump. Thanks for the good idea. Something to add. Will start next Thursday.

212- Looks like the stuff I carried in the Dino and Daytona every day driving them to work, except the steering wheel. Never can tell.

What a coincidence. We arrive in Sicily on the 29th and will be there for one week. Staying first in Agrigento and then in Randazzo.

Sadly, the Spider is staying home.

And why does the Spider stays ar home ? Will go to the Temples Valley as well, to cefalu and to syracusa. But most of all the Targa Florio Road and its museum in collesano.

my understanding is that the condition of the Targa Florio roads are horrendous. Are you able to pack more than one spare tire/wheel? I could see broken Borrani spokes as a likely incident.

The Spider lives in Washington, DC. Too long a trip for a three week vacation. Instead, we'll have a bright-colored Cinquacento.

We'll be in Siracusa sometime between Oct 3-7. Unfortunately, Enna and Nicosia are as far west as we'll get this trip.

Will see. Thats a downside yes. At least for the wheels we both are having Campagnolo's.

I hope you two have a great time on those famous old roads and come back with smiles on your faces and Campag rims intact!

Capo - after the tenth time he asks you to check the colour or smell of his exhaust, just ignore him, refuse to drive behind him any more and tell him his car is as perfect as ever.
