How to tell what # your Ferrari is?

Hi, I own a 1987 328 GTS. I understand that
there was about 7,000 made but, how can you
Tell what number it was made and is there anyway
to tell how many are still on the road?

Thanks!

Welcome to Ferrari Life. There were 1344 328 GTB and 6068 328 GTS models built. Give us the serial number and date of manufacture of your car and we should be able to tell you roughly where she fits in the line.

From a post by Brian Crall on another site for US 328s:

MY 86 Starts 56211 Ends 66295

MY 87 Starts 66301 Ends 74331

MY 88 Starts 74333 Ends 78828

MY 89 Starts 78835 Ends 83136

Since these are Ferraris, there are exceptions, naturally.

No WAG on how many are still on the road.

Also, if you can find an online "328 registry" - that would give you a pretty good idea of where you slot in as well. These things are typically sorted by VIN #.

Best bet is the book by Matthias Urban.

You can find some interesting info on serial #'s in these articles by Sheehan.

How many 599 SA Apertas

Onno- Affirmative on Matthias Urban's books. Use them all the time, but have not subscribed to his online database yet. That has the most current information.

Thanks for the advice. The VIN is
zffxa20a6h0070695. It's not the fastest but,
it sure is sleek looking. I find a lot of the people
keeping up with me when I'm on the freeway which
is fun. I don't even mind sitting in traffick with this car. Lol

It's a 1987 USA model built in March. There really isn't any more information about it available.

My records which for the most part mirror Matthais Urban's do not even have color information.

How many cars remain is pure guess work. Certainly a very high percentage compared to automobiles as a group.

I have some information on your car; I assume you're Dennis. I saw your car a few months ago. Can you tell me when you bought it? I saw it in the showroom at Black Horse Motors in February, and it was for sale on mota.com back in December, 2010, through a guy named Randy E. of Villa Park, CA.

I need an Aventador!
