Too Great of a Deal? 599

2007 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano Stafford , Texas | Global Motors of Houston

Just got this guy on ebay, offered 145,000 and they took the offer. I will be going down to Houston shortly to inspect the vehicle.

Just wanted to get everyone's opinion, you guys are pretty great with helping out. The extremely low price has me slightly concerned that there might be issues?

Chris- Looks like you should be ok. 07s have been going fairly reasonably and these guys may have $130K or so in her as a trade-in. Probably happy to move her because everyone wants to drive her. Someone spent a fortune initially on carbon fiber, CCMs, etc, and then wrapping the roof and pillars. Lots of GTO looking features. Great buy, congratulations.

A little over five years ago, that is about what my 575M cost, but it did not start as a $400K car.

My local dealership is saying its a wrap not actual carbon, thus they are most likely attempting to hide issues.

Trying to research the VIN ZFFFC60A870153024, on my damn phone though not having much luck. Pulled the reviews of the dealership, they seem rather unscrupulous so a little concerned.

Forgot to ask, how can you tell it has CCMs by the pics? This is a skill I need!

Just pulled the carfax, has an accident on it... Nope not gonna happen

Chris- The CCM front brakes have 6 pot calipers and are much bigger than the 4 pot calipers on the steel brakes. Also the rotors are substantially larger at 398 mm vs 353 mm for the steel brakes, and do not look shiny.

I doubt the wrap was to hide anything. The owner just wanted it to look like a GTO. GTO wheels will fit all 599s, incidentally.

Too bad about the accident.

Still a nice car and maybe now with lots of negotiating room. If it's a driver to keep for 3+ years, being the last on record owner - can you get the insurance photos and who did the repair?

Must have been some kind of wild impulse you had to throw $145k at a car sight-unseen without even clicking on the "view the free car fax" button in the listing *first*.

It wasn't a free "carfax" that was provided on ebay but a non name third party reporting system that stated there was nothing on the title.

Sorry, wasn't referring to eBay - I clicked the link in your 1st post and free car fax was there.

Chris - feel free to start a thread on your 458 Challenge car.

If not any pictures - looking for a Challenge car any help would be appreciated.

Good luck on the 599 - seems like a steal!

Mine actually sold not too long ago, shipped it to Ferrari of BH on consignment. Took a huge bath though on that thing.

Lamborghini of Newport Beach has one right now I believe as does the autogallery in LA.

Didn't see one on either of those two sites - trying to get a handle on the market.

Bath as in depreciation or cost to track?

On the depreciation. I never tracked it in the challenge series, just days at willow springs where I had opportunities to head out. I only took it out three times, lost 60K on it.

Paid 225 for it new, only got 165 for it after BH took their commission.

Remember, asking price vs what they actually get are radically different. This is such a niche market that happens to be flooded with challenge cars.

I saw a 430 challenge recently sell for 75K, never tracked.

EDIT - Found out why it was 75, it didn't have an engine!
