Article in the paper

Hi All

On Sunday, local motoring journalist Thimas Falkiner published an article on my 308. The article was aimed at general public rather than enthusiasts but it was nice to see my car in the paper anyhow.

I have attached a pdf of the article.

Warm regards

Mike

Nice article about your gorgeous 308, Mike! In which newspaper did it appear? What the writer did not cover was the brilliant design of the targa top (hardly any buffeting at decent speeds) and the incredible handling. Still a pretty balanced assessment and his enthusiasm for this 308 shows loud and clear!

Hey Dave - it was in the Sunday Times.

Thomas didn't mention many of the aspects of the car but in chatting to him, he was an instant fan of the 308. He is a complete petrolhead and races a late 60s Mustang in historics - really good guy.

Jimmy, the professional photos are always great. Thomas is doing a piece on my Diablo next month and if you look carefully, I am far back on the bridge in it.

Warm regards

Mike

Sunday Times, best paper in SA! Good man. Diablo looks magnificent and other-worldly in the background, what a great pic!

Eagle eyes Onno - I didn't spot it until I got a high-res version yesterday.

Funny they chose that angle of the car - the front quarter view is my least favourite - rear quarter is best IMO.

The photographer was hanging out the back of an SUV on the highway!!! The Diablo was shot in early dawn and should be great - I was in the 308 while that was being done.

Jimmy, the police were very aware of us - I had a few officers taking pics with their camera phones while we were parked whilst swapping cars.

BTW, the bridge is the Nelson Mandela Bridge that leads from Braamfontein to Newtown in Johannesburg.

Maybe I am biased. Or maybe not.

My first Ferrari was a 308, and this well-written article captures the essence of the 308.
More than ever before, I regret having sold it after reading this article.

Well done mate!

I will pass on the comment to Thomas.

I really love my 308 - I've had her for seven years now - I want to to try hold onto her forever!

He has a gift for writing
I think he'd appreciate the well-earned feedback

Perhaps we can get him to write his impressions of other exotic cars and post on FLife.

It'd be great content to read (and worldwide exposure for him) from an appreciative audience.

Maybe let him drive that bad-boy Diablo VT of yours next?!

I will ask him to join and post.

He drove the Diablo as well for his next piece and let me drive his W123 230E Merc race care - a bit of a boat but fun!
