Gumball 3000 rally sets off from Copenhagen

BBC News - Gumball 3000 rally sets off from Copenhagen

Nice collection of cars amid semi-controversial background. Several Fcars in the video.

I used to be a fan on the Gumball 3000, however there are more rallies these days. If I ever do a rally, it would probably be goldRush. It doesn't cost as much and it doesn't seem to draw the same crowd of 'drivers'. I think Gumball 3000 is a victim of it's own success, being too popular. It's the one rally you can count on a few car accidents, due to stupid drivers. The Gumball 3000 in the early years was something else though and it started the modern luxury rally trend.

A Murcielago SV already crashed yesterday before reaching Stockholm. Just after the rally started...icing on the cake that it was the real SV not the fake one (just SV parts) of the two. Anyway I think I'm gonna check out them in Vienna, would be nice one-day tour.

Yep, I knew about the accident from somewhere else. You can always count on a few accidents because the Gumball attracts all kinds of drivers, some of them are too stupid to be driving cars of this caliber. This is why I say the Gumball 3000 is a victim of its own success. It's too popular for its own good. For many, the Gumball 3000 is a week long party where they get to flaunt their expensive toys and try to get as much attention as possible.

The photo kind of says it all. What kind of jackass drives in a tiger sleeping outfit? Sorry, not my cup of tea or crowd.

goldRush is around $7k per driver, or $14k total.

It appears that it wasn't him who crashed the SV, he's just a sad fella' who stopped by seeing his mate at the side of the road. Mr. Tiger though hasn't crashed his car. Not yet.

I hate Gumball. Really hate it. They just cheapen the whole ownership experience and make us all look like idiots in the eye of the general public.

Another car accident, this time a complete loss. The good news, if you guys need a spare engine, transaxle, etc. there is now a parts car in great condition for rear end parts.

I agree with you! I also hate the Gumball 3000. The members of this car rally are nothing than idoits, posers, playboys ... everything but not car enthusiasts!!!

It's German for translating documents. It's a bit like having an interpreter with subtitles.

I love the Gumball 3000- only for the schadenfreude in seeing those with more dollars than sense parading around. It also shows that posing is okay- but if you are going to drive, you should know how or it will leave a mark. Electronic nannies and all.

forgive my teenage in me but when I think of Gumball 3000 I think of the one Jackass episode when Bam, Johnny Knoxville and Steve-O are in some old Jaguar getting lost in Eastern Europe during the Gumball. Not sure if I would ever participate in it I get a bad vibe from it

When innocent people die because of irresponsible driving, Schadenfreude is at the very least tasteless. And Gumball has killed in the past. Sorry to be such a bore.
