F430 Crash in Greece

A Greek entrepreneur named Leontiadis and his passenger almost lost their lifes yesterday, when the entrepreneur lost control of his Ferrari F430 sports car on the coastal highway in Vouliagmeni.

The vehicle hit a highway divider and a tree before it burned down to the ground. The combination of slippery road surface and excessive speed were the main cause of the problem.

The occupants miraculously survived and were taken to hospital.

I read that this morning in the news. Wow, I've never seen a so badly crashed Ferrari before! How they got alife out of such a weck, it's just a miracle! Even the fuel tanks broke apart.

Thanks for sharing Mike Make us remembering that when the road is wet, we'll have to be on our guards with such cars.

Absolutely incredible. What speed must have been involved to render the 430 that much of a wreck? There are 2 very lucky people in Greece today.

Very lucky indeed! By the looks of where the people are in realtion to where the car ended up, it looks like they were both ejected when they struck the tree. I don't think they would have made if they wern't ejected, as strange as that sounds!!!

Apparently they were not ejected but rather "extracted" by the fire fighters who arrived at the scene.
Soon after the extrication the wreck burst into flames.

Wow, what a miracle. Very lucky to be alive. Kudos to Ferrari for building a car that would allow its passengers to survive such a horrible accident.

apparently the destructive action was confined to the rear portion of the car, as the front is relatively intact not showing signs of initial impact...allowing for the passengers to be protected by the safety devices... the missing mid section, consumed by the fire, adds to the image of the violence and good fortune to being able escape the fire

I have a friend who parked his 360 in a tree. Car broke in 3 pieces. He walked away with a few bruises.

That seems to be consistent in most cases.
The cars will take a great beating and the drivers more often than not get to walk away.

I have great confidence in the structural integrity of Ferraris.

+1 to Enzo and his engineers.

phunny...that image has a light side to it... reminds me of photos of a boater nearby that put his 40' "go fast" boat into the tree tops... had to be going extremely fast to get "max points" for distance from water and height above ground :=)
